He's not Lamar Jackson but he can tuck and run if he has too. He seems to be hell bent staying in the pocket this year. He's more like Josh Allen or Joe Burrow but faster. He just had that TD run against A&M last week which was pretty great. It's been a tough year for him and some of it is on him but his , as you pointed out, WR core was not any good. Nobody is open or making catches for him. You put him at OSU with the compliment of WRs and TE's they put on the field and his year might have looked a lot better. Personally, I think he should transfer to LSU and go work with Lane Kiffin.
His problem is that he has actively cultivated the aura of the Mannings as has his family. Which means that MORE is expected of him and he flat out has not shown it.
You want the name you have to take what comes with it

if they ever do join a conference...as a notre dame fan i hope its the big 10 with almost all of their traditional rivals in one house...michigan,michigan st,penn st,purdue and from the freeman era...ohio st.
plus historic rival usc.
i don't like the association with the acc...the big 10 just seems a natural fit.
and i'd love to see the return of notre dame/michigan st....and notre dame/penn st.
the big 10 has always made the most sense for them.
if they get left out this year it may push that needle forward.

ncaa football is clearly following an nfl model and there are no independents in the NFL.

had they been in the actual ACC this year they probably are a shoo in even with 2 losses because they'd have 1 less conference loss than Miami which negates the head-to-head argument.
but there is no reason for them to join the 4th best conference when they can join the P2 in their own backyard.
and probably get Big 10 to move to 3 protected rivals so they get the 3 teams of their choice every season.

end of day Notre Dame is basically in same spot as any ACC or Big 12 team.
1 or fewer regular season losses gets you in.
2 is very, very risky and people are going to favor SEC and Big 10 teams over you 9 times out of 10.

lol man just stop.
We all get you love Notre Dame but in zero universes is it better to play 12 games without a 13th against top 25 competition in a CCG.
Losing 2 of 12 games against a non top 40 schedule is really all there is to say about it.
Especially when competing another 2-loss team that beat you head-to-head but couldn't win the sad sack ACC.

The entire ND argument was based on Miami and TAMU being great and neither are great. Both good but not top 5 great.

ND appears to be a pretty good team now as the season has worn on but it is honestly impossible to say because they haven't played the kinds of teams that test that.
A Pitt team that lost to West Virginia is their 2nd best win of the season. Thats truly abysmal stuff.
TAM and Miami are not all that but then who else is besides OSU, maybe Georgia.
Ten in a row makes a statement of its own that some here just want to ignore

love to watch the haters as ND continues on as an independent and it makes your teeth grind

we will not join a conference in football

now I think a fair amount of that is just to poke those like you in the eye

we should have done a better job of taking care of business and we know that. if somehow we get left out we are not going to join a conference just because it happened this year
suck it

Yeah...make no mistake. ND will be in.
Their spot is about as guaranteed as a conference champ since ND will almost always be the highest rated non conference/p4 team.

I do not like it. I have never liked ND having a say in Big East or ACC votes with no total membership either but it is what it is.
ND is currently sitting 9th. With 2 of those spots earmarked for "other teams".
That means 2 teams would have to jump them for them to miss out.

1 of those teams is Bama which would jump them with a win over Georgia.
Another is BYU which could steal a spot with a win over Tech.

Then the rub happens if ONE of those 2 happens.
If it is Miami vs ND for the last spot (10 seed) that gets to be nasty work for the committee.
Miami won head-to-head and has the higher SOS.

Indiana, Texas Tech.
But it's not just that, It's that Miami, TAMU are easily better than any team ND has actually beaten.

If you lose to 7 and 12 but beat 17 and all other wins are outside the top 25 it is pretty fair to assume you fall between 12 and 17.

That's not any ND hate, just basic math.

This.

It's just how it is. Should be interesting.

As for ND and Miami, both have been playing their best ball.
Miami did win the head-to-head and they have done better vs common opponents.
I don't have a big issue with ND getting in, but its who gets left out.

You mentioned before that if Duke somehow wins, then maybe 2 G5 teams get in, the committee may put Miami in as an at-large.

I guess the committee will decide..
They will expand the field either next year or soon after.

Not going to 16 this year was just dumb.
Big 10 didn't want to give SEC more spots but it sure appears those 4 spots would fix a lot of issues.
And you'd get rid of the insanely long layoff before bye week teams play.

Miami, ND, BYU, Vandy would all be in.
Utah and UT arguing for their spots.

More spots could just mean the drama is extended to more teams. They need to address a few areas to clean up the selection process.

And yesterday's deadline to decide on next year's format was extended to late January to agree on the 16-team format.
If they can't, then next year will be 12 teams too.

will always been complaining, regardless of size. See 68 team NCAA basketball bracket.

Big Ten wants more autobids....something like
3 SEC
3 Big Ten
2 Big 12
2 ACC
1 G5
4 at large

SEC wants more at large.
If they had their way it'd be 16 teams at large, but not happening.
So they're okay with 5 autobisd and 11 at large

Big 10 proposed 4/4/2/2/1 autobids. 2 at large.
Insane

So they bumped it to 24 teams because they werent coming off 4 Big 10 bids.

That's insane.

Teams that rotate through the 21-25 spots weekly are often not even top 40 at years end.

Do you talk this rudely to people in person, or is it just a big boy Internet kind of thing?

You have a lot of weird angry hate inside of you, based entirely on a child’s game. It’s rather bizarre.

B1G has been and still is the most logical conference for them.

And who did Alabama lose to?

so why don't you apply the same basic math to teams that struggled to beat patsies?

and I should care what you have to say why?
Just another internet noise maker...

i miss notre dame vs michigan st.
I loved it when we played Purdue and Michigan State every year.
Just like with USC. And Navy; we promised in 1945 that we would play Navy every year until they said no more. Now I would also like a yearly with Michigan. Not going to happen anymore which is sad.
that would be 5 games and add Stanford that makes 6 and we could still have other games with any big team that wants it.
