will always been complaining, regardless of size. See 68 team NCAA basketball bracket.

Big Ten wants more autobids....something like
3 SEC
3 Big Ten
2 Big 12
2 ACC
1 G5
4 at large

SEC wants more at large.
If they had their way it'd be 16 teams at large, but not happening.
So they're okay with 5 autobisd and 11 at large
Agreed. Even the NFL and other professional leagues have people complaining. There is not a selection process that everyone will buy into.

IMO it would be help if the power conferences got together and agreed to a schedule rotation of playing each other.

I have no dog in any fight regarding Notre Dame, but they inched closer to being left out with the new CFP rankings. Now 10th.
A BYU win (doubtful) would be precarious.

I know a couple of ND fans here--who I suspect are not alums, just random hardcore fans--whose heads will explode if that happens. Btw, no rule says you had to go somewhere to pull for them--see many Texas fans throughout this forum as examples.

Hang in there guys. I know you love your Irish.

Fwiw, I love that movie "Rudi"!

I have never liked that movie

My father was a huge ND fan. Lived and died with them but then he did live in Indiana. He indoctrinated me at age 8 and I have been mainlining the Green since then. The first time I heard the Victory March I knew this would always be my team.

That all said, there are not 12 better teams this year then ND. BUT any committee will always move to the lowest common denominator. and We did not help ourselves with a second year in a row with a bad start to the season.

Though the FACT we are hanging in there for a spot with having an 0-2 start just proves all the whining about us having to join a conference is BS. You take care of business and you get in. Simple as that.

Screw Notre Dame. Miami beat them head to head. If beating Notre Dame head to head does not help you in a tie breaker with Notre Dame then why should any college team play them at all?

We have an absurd situation where Notre Dame is benefiting more from losing to Miami than Miami gets from beating Notre Dame. Now that is messed up favoritism on a level never seen before. If the roles were reversed everyone would argue that Notre Dame should get in because they beat Miami head to head, and everyone knows it.

By every tie breaking metric Miami should be in over Notre Dame. Head to head, common opponents, and Miami beat more top 25 teams.

And you of course leave out who Miami lost to
there are a number of metrics that favor ND

Well it looks like BYU basically has to beat Texas Tech to get into the CFP this year. There might be some other odd stuff like Duke beating Virginia as I imagine they will find a way of keeping Duke out as a 8-5 team.

I like Tech and I think they will win but as a Big 12 fan I gotta hope that BYU wins so both get in.

***SCORE UPDATE***
Texas Tech just scored another TD vs WVU.

True.

And regarding Duke, the rule says the 5 highest-ranked conference champions.

Duke isn't anywhere close to ranked as high as Tulane, JMU or UNT....so they would be left out, as they should be. They didn't even receive votes (so outside even the top 40)

They "might" find a way to get Miami in as an at-large if that happens, though. Those teams in the 9-15 range are pretty lumped together. Miami is the best ACC team anyway

I loved it when we played Purdue and Michigan State every year.
Just like with USC. And Navy; we promised in 1945 that we would play Navy every year until they said no more. Now I would also like a yearly with Michigan. Not going to happen anymore which is sad.
that would be 5 games and add Stanford that makes 6 and we could still have other games with any big team that wants it.
unless my memory has faded....i still see the rockets punt return in the rain vs michigan st.
i loved the build up to those games with michigan st because the network would always show clips from that historic game of the century 10-10 tie.
i remember espn re-broadcasting that game.

The Auto Bid that some here are defending puts a team like Duke in a position where they might be in

Duke

I want those whining about ND to think about a system that might have them in and ND out.

IF Duke gets in, they will deserve it because they won a P4 conference. PERIOD.
That's like crying when weak NFL teams get in the playoffs for winning their division.

Winning your conference is job 1.
ND choosing to not participate removes that one path for them, so they are defaulted to being ONE of SEVEN at-large teams.

They made that choice. Same way UT and OU chose to go to the SEC and play tougher schedules for 30M more per year in pay outs.
You don't get tio choose a path then be mad at it result because you are the reason for the result!

ND is a 2-loss team. A LOT of 2 loss teams will get left out.

The playoff should be 16 teams which would alleviate a lot of that angst but ND that loses 2 regular season game is not even among the first 5 schools I'd feel sorry for.

this post is pretty dumb
The CFP's are supposed to consist of teams that have a chance to win it all. Tell me that Duke is one of them
Your conference worship is toxic entitlement

and not surprised at your comment about NFL divisions and losing teams winning them

once again entitlement

And who did Alabama lose to?

so why don't you apply the same basic math to teams that struggled to beat patsies?
I have no love for Bama.
I like Notre Dame much more TBH.

But the issue is Bama is playing for a P4 conference championship game.
And they already have a win over currently ranked 3rd Georgia.
If they lose the rematch they should be out.
But win and of course they are in and above ND.

Bama didn't just lose to FSU the defense quit. I absolutely do not forget that.
But they have a resume that warrants being near the top of the 2 loss teams.

Strength of Record currently has Alabama 8th and Notre Dame 13th.
That is the rank of how you performed comparatively to a standard top 25 team given your schedule.

That SOR gap widens is Bama wins the SEC CG.

Again, the fact Bama plays in a conference gives them a chance to overcome a bad loss by simply winning a P4 conference.

Zero proposals have removed AQ for the P4 champs and none ever will. IOa lso doubt they will ever remopve the 5th spot.
Instead, they will make the playoff larger.

Why would I feel sorrier for Notre Dame than BYU, Utah or Miami?

why should you stick up for weak conferences?

and your use of strength of schedule is very selective

weak conferences generate weak conference champions
somehow you cannot grasp that

LOL at the little man talk about entitlement while crying your 2 loss team DESERVES something.
Dude, be for freaking real man.
Notre Dame EARNED ZERO.
The best win was 3 loss USC at home.
The 2nd best win was a Pitt team that lost to West Viirginia.

tell me what Duke did; or for that matter BYU

the SEC consists this year of above average teams and nothing more
yet you lick their boots

If anyone is interested

247's recruiting rankings...

USC became the first non-SEC team to have the #1 projected recruiting class in 18 years.

That surprises me, as I would've assumed Ohio St had at least #1 class in that span.
Guess not. Maybe in Rivals
