The ACC's whacky scheduling and tie-breakers led to ND being left out.

Miami was in a 4 way tie but played a tougher league schedule and was ranked higher than any team in the league.

But they got left out of the conf title game due to tie-breakers.

If ranking was one of the tie-breakers then most likely Miami is your ACC champ, JMU is out, and Notre Dame is in.

Tulane and James Madison in and ND out

tell me how you defend that decision

Miami did get in which I am OK with; they did beat ND head to head

Though that clearly did not matter in 1989 and 1993 but it is what it is

Funny I thought the committee's mission statement was to get the 12 best teams into the playoffs.
It wasn't a decision.
They just followed the rules
They didn't "choose" Tulane and JMU over Notre Dame at all.

JMU got in because the ACC's dumb tie-breaker left their best teams out of the conf champ game. If Miami was in that game as they should have been, and won it, then they get in as conf champ and not at-large....and JMU is out, ND is in

ND absolutely did not deserve a spot.

Good for the playoff committee on doing the right thing.

If ND doesn’t like it, don’t lose 2 games and/or join a conference like everyone else. It’s pretty simple.
so Tulane is better than ND?
James Madison is better than ND?
dude, whatever cred you ever had is gone

This isn't true. I put Josh Allen in there bc he and Arch have about the same 40 time. Allen probbaly has a much better arm but as a runner, they are about the same. We've seen arch run and he's pretty dam fast. He just hasn't chosen to tuck and run much this year but thats not bc he can't. I think teams just have had decided to box him in and make him beat them with his arm.............and he can't really do that yet.

Again. dude you miss the forest for the trees every time a big southern dummy is involved.

Josh Allen is on a very different level athletically from Arch Manning.
It is 2025 and most people understand 40 time is not a be all end for athleticism.
A whole bunch of guys run 4.7.
Virtually none of those guys are athleticism as Josh Allen.

Josh is elite in his shuttle (agility and balance like Tony Romo) and lower body strength (like Dak) for the position.
Arch has decent straight-line speed. But he has virtually no wiggle or ability to break tackles(yet).

When Arch gets a full draft combine profile you will see the difference.
Same as everyone else saw it play out this year in many games.

yeah Josh Allen is so much better an athlete its crazy anyone would compare the two

The only CFP issue I have is BYU should be in over Bama.

BYU was just stuck in a match-up nightmare and couldn't escape versus Tech. They were excellent in 11 other games and should be in.
They had 3 top 25 wins and 11 wins total.

Bama got blown off the field twice too but also lost a 3rd game to a team with no offense.

The overrating of the SEC really needs to stop.
And once again pre-season rankings led us astray all year.
Thankfully 6 of the top 10 missed the CFP but half that group is crying they deserve to be in with either 2 or 3 losses.

Had a feeling Miami would slide past ND. Sucks for ND but Miami cost them a spot by playing like crap against SMU.
Only Bama gets that level of home cooking to know they are in with 2 losses for certain.

so Tulane is better than ND?
James Madison is better than ND?

Boo hoo.

The playoff committee disagrees with you.

Want some cheese with your whine?

No. The primary rule is the 5 highest rated conference champions get in.
That rule was the entire basis of getting the deal agreed ot with obvetr half the votes coming from team competing for that 5th spot.

The ACC needs to adjust their CG ruleset. If not head-to-head it should be highest ranked in CFP.

Tulane and JMU were basically the same team. Feels weird both got in but it makes sense on some level.

I do think ND should be in over Bama. But I also think BYU should be in over both.

strange how their charter says otherwise.

ND should not be in so I have no problem with that. If they were rated higher they would have been in. The lack of that conf championship or 1th game hurt them. Sometimes it hurts other that are actually in the game.

Bama losing three should not be in. Sorry. IMO the truth is that there was no way sankey, sec and espn were going to keep bama out two years in a row. How bama is ranked above, ND, Miami and BYU is crazy. Bama is the only one with three losses. BYU is the only team of the three with 11 wins.

Personally think that BYU should have gotten in once Bama lost and Duke won.

I also think it is twisted that a team from a Conference gets in when neither of the teams that played in the conf championship gets in.

Also....Here is a great Idea....lets make Bama play Oklahoma for a second time this year.

If you want to add two g5 schools, make them play each other to determine who goes forward. But they split those two up to play different teams.

With all of my opinions stated.
Not sure if we will ever have a selection ranking that will be pretty much universal accepted. As long as there are different conferences with different payments...doubt it ever changes.

It would have to fall into some kind of super league. Then they would have to split all of those into conferences and divisions like the NFL model so there is no putting the selection into the hands of voters.

Alabama have a nightmare schedule anyway, they can't seem to beat a struggling Oklahoma and if they somehow do that then they will get killed by Indiana.

only the committee thinks ND is not one of the 12 best teams.

IMO, If you hate the results,, you should be mad at in order:

1. SEC and Big 10. They had ability to send it to 16 teams but wouldn't agree to SEC's desired 5+11 format that Big 12 and ACC co-signed. We could have 8 home stadium games and 16 teams.
2. The ACC for their CG ruleset. It was bad and the 8-game schedule with that many teams was always goofy.
3. Your own team if they lost 2+ games in the regular season.
4. The committee if a CG loss cost you a spot but Bama could lose game 3 by 17 and not drop.
5. Notre Dame at its Admin for not choosing a conference to be an associate member for football. If you can play Big 10 hockey and ACC for other sports, you can join one off your choosing for football. Notre Dame winning the ACC with 1 loss would have solved a lot of issues. They'd be sitting at Bama's 9 seed IMO. Bama would be 10-11 because the committee seems unaware Saban retired but the rest would look pretty good.

And we will stay that way.

And remember who shafted us
To be fair....ND has had the benefit of the doubt for years.
They are constantly being ranked higher than anyone but notre dame fans think they should be ranked.

Frankly I am shocked they are not in. If not for the idea they were not going to let bama be left out back to back years, ND probably would have been in.

More times than not NDs indy stance they keep in order to make that cheddar and then get a say about making it advantageous for them to stay indy and still get in more times than not.... Hard to complain the one time it does not help them.

No the claim that they want the best 12 should be immediately called a lie

Our Independence in football has cost us certainly but its a price we are willing to pay

So no, the committee is not the only one

IF ND had played that 13th game or a conf champ game and won...so be it. They did not. BYU did play that game and conf champ game. They lost but their record is still better than ND.

Now going forward if the Committee decides that no g5 confs/teams get in. And they decide that G5 has it's own championship like the NIT. Then maybe this would take away from part of these issues.

Everyone normally thought that only one g5 would get in. This is one of those odd ball situations that line up perfectly for the G5

IF G5 had its own championship and not part of the CFP. Then ND and BYU would be in the playoffs this year...and I think that would make most people, except the G5 teams/fans, happy.

I think this crazy stuff is going to drive more changes to the CFP just like last year did.
