BYU deserved to be in before ND.
They only lost to 1 team this year (the #4 team in the country). ND lost to 2 different teams.
With all due respect, “they only lost to one team” is the dumbest thing I have ever heard on this board.

Three playoff games were decided by 20+ points last year and none of them involved Group of Five teams

remember, those whining about teams saying no are slaves to the system

Anyone being fair - which obviously doesnt include the haters - would concede Notre Dame has a right to be upset. They have 3 legit gripes:

1) The completely moronic way the ACC sent 5-loss Duke to the CCG. The borderline conferences (like the ACC) should send the highest ranked team as a tiebreaker. Actually I think all conferences should have that tiebreaker but especially the borderline ones.

2) I think it’s fair that Miami is going instead of ND but the process was horrible. ND was ahead of Miami for 5 weeks - including last week. Then, after a weekend when neither team played, they magically swap places. The haters are laughing themselves silly but there isn’t a single fan of any team that wouldn’t be outraged if it happened to them. No one - NO ONE - would just shrug and say “that’s the breaks!!”

3) The ACC just keeps getting more and more pathetic as a football conference, which wasn’t the case 12 years ago when ND made their commitment to the ACC. People take swipes at NDs SOS but ND didn’t schedule 4-8 Stanford, 3-9 Syracuse or 2-10 BC. The conference scheduled those games. The ACC isn’t pulling their weight. They’re practically a G5 conference these days.

They need to get rid of the small school entries. This isn't the 64 team NCAA basketball tourney. No Cinderellas required here nor is there room. To give 2 spots to small programs with teams like ND looking on the outside is absurd.
The G5 should recognize that they are a separate division in all but name and hold their own tournament. We already have 4 divisions, a 5th wouldn’t be a big deal.

And it's clear ND was the odd man out because they were independent and not a favored asset of ESPN like Bama and the SEC is.
The conflict of interest is despicable and should be of tremendous concern to any fan of college football. Of course the SEC stans will never say anything since they’re the beneficiaries but their incestuous relationship with ESPN is a travesty.

I note just right after all this happened ESPN's NCAAF football page had THREE highlighted articles taking swipes at Notre Dame and claiming the committee was right in leaving them out. Or that Notre Dame was somehow committing a crime by turning down a bowl.

Football is a lot different then basketball and virtually any other sport despite your claims that there is none

I will put it this way
ONCE UPON A TIME EVERYONE HAD SLAVES

does not make it right

your worship of conferences is just absurd
You know you’ve lost the argument when you have to compare a child’s game to one of the world’s historically great evils.

You’re floundering at this point, and you have completely lost the argument. You are starting to sound like that unhinged Florida State fan here a few years ago who completely went berserk when they got left out of the playoffs.

Just take the loss and walk away. You’re not helping yourself.

just how many posts have you made whining about this?

talk about unhinged

you must not have much of a life if this is so important to you

What's your point?

Surely you are not arguing that including G5s just because they won their conference is right?

James Madison Tulane have zero chance . Expand to 16 have 4 “ at large “ selections with record & strength of schedule as factors .

LOL this is really shallow analysis.

They didn't just lose to one team............. TWICE. They got run off the field by that team............... TWICE.

I mean I might buy the argument that if they had played a really close game against TT at one point and then the other game got away from them, sure. But they had two cracks at a CFP level team and didn't even stand a chance in either game. ND was better than BYU and even many of the pundits who said ND was rightfully left out given the selection process admitted ND was likely one of a small handful that have a legit shot to win the whole thing. BYU was not one of those teams.

Go to 16 teams. Dump the existing selection process. Either go with the AP Poll or bring back the old BCS selection with combined polls and computer rankings.

There was a report out today stating that feeling in the room and others involved/reporting on the committee was ND's goose was cooked when the Baylor AD stepped down and Yurachek took over. A conference's payout is directly tied to how many teams get in and how far they advance. Yurachek's Arkansas athletic department directly benefits from Bama staying in and ND being out.

So dump those people. Go with the AP Poll and/or some computer modeling system. The 4 highest conference champs get auto bids. The rest of the 12 spots go to at larges. First two rounds played on college campuses.

I knew ND was probably going to be snubbed when that ARk AD said Alabama was raised in the poll because of a gutsy call on 4th down vs Auburn.

Its good that this is all coming out; all the bs ESPN was trying to sell is really stinking the place up now

Don't forget he also said they were impressed by Alabama's "first half" in that Auburn game.

He also instructed the rest of the committee to go back and watch the ND-Miami game.

At the end of the day, the SEC wonks wanted that 5th team in and protected Bama. And to highlight the silliness that was ESPN, again note that from Tuesday to Sunday, Rece Davis was a key member in steering the narrative that of the three teams, ND probably should be the one out. Then Davis voted in the AP Poll and had ND higher than Miami or Bama. LOL, ***.

Notre Dame has no one to blame but themselves.

Just take care of business and don’t lose two games to the only legitimate teams that you play, and they would have easily made the playoffs. It’s pretty simple.

All of this gnashing of teeth is comical. It’s called self responsibility.

The above is absolutely a better system than having a “committee” made up of people who stand to benefit financially depending on which teams get in.
