Gachkar is one of the signings that I think we made just to fill a hole and overpaid. I didn't like the signing at the time and I don't like it any better in retrospect.

He makes $1.3M, plays on every special teams unit, and can back up at least two of the LB positions.

If there's a signing to complain about, I'm not sure that I would start with Andrew Gachkar.

I might sign one of the WRs before Tony returns and makes them look better than they are.

Take Frederick off this list, he will not see FA for many, many years. Now lets get into depth. I believe Terrence Williams can be a good #2 or #3 WR in the NFL. Williams was groom to be a #2 because we have Dez, but Dez got hurt and that forced Williams to be a #1 which he clearly is not. Therefore, Williams should have a big impact this upcoming season with a healthy Romo and Dez. I'm thinking 65+ catches, 900-1000 yards and 7-9 tds.

I believe Claiborne can still have a big impact, Claiborne was solid last year especially in man to man coverage. Can he stay healthy? If Claiborne stays healthy, we run more man on man coverage, then Claiborne goes into FA a wanted man. At least that's what I want from him.

I'm rooting for these two young men to step up and realize their potential!

Aside from Frederick, not really concerned about losing any of them.

You should be just for the simple fact that if one leaves, you have to replace him. Sometimes that can benefit the team, sometimes it will have a negative impact on the team.

So really, you have to ask yourself. Of the players that leave, how many of them can you *EASILY* replace and get the same or better? You clearly will NOT upgrade all positions and most likely, less than 25% of them will actually be upgrades vs the same or even worse. A downgrade.

Look at our current offseason. :)

So you think we should be panicking? Some of them are not even locks to make the roster this year.

Travis Frederick - Should definitely try to sign him to a long term contract now.
Terrance Williams - Also should try to lock him up now if the price is right, and the price should be decent right now.
Brice Butler - Again, shouldn't cost much to sign him for another 3 years. Try to lock up now.
Gavin Escobar - Same thing, lock him up now. Shouldn't be high.

The rest of them should have their agents begging the Cowboys for a contract extension.

Where did I say panic? I said you should worry about your FA as better ones just don't appear. They have to be replaced and we see how easy that is to do.

Obvious Players I would bring back:

Fredbeard
Butler

Players I'd like to retain:

McClain
Mo
Williams (depending on Butler)
Leary

Players I'm on the fence about:

Church
Escobar
Brown
McFadden (depending on this years draft and how he plays)

Good God, now wonder we were 4-12... Other than "The Beard", they could all leave as far as I'm concerned.

No question.

Wait and see on him. He can tease, I want to see production.

Wait and see but want a lot from all of them. McClain and Williams especially. Leary's limitations make me think he's done after this year. Claiborne? Unless he lives up to his draft press clippings, bye.

Players I'm on the fence about:
Church
Escobar
Brown
McFadden (depending on this years draft and how he plays)

Not on the fence on any of them. Too pricey, too inconsistent, too boring and too old. Move on from all.

Yes, but he will be a reserve for as long as Collins is healthy, has knee woes and does not do anything but play guard.

I don't think paying him more than what we are right now on a tender deal is that advisable given those limitations.

Which is why we should look to move him next year.

David Irving was also on that list and has some interesting measurables. We'll have to see if he does anything this year. Unless we grab a WR fairly high in this year's draft, I'd think we would want to bring back back Williams and/or Butler. Claiborne is still a wait and see, but we can hope.

As others have mentioned, Frederick is really the only crucial one, but it may be difficult to keep our line together and pay 4 guys top FA $$ that they will deserve. If it comes down to losing Martin, Collins or Frederick, I'm afraid they might let Frederick go. Martin and Collins are both FA after the 2017 season. I just hope this careful spending we've been doing combined with a cap increase will allow us to keep all 4.

I may be wrong but I think we are due to be in very good shape cap wise next year.
