Have rarely if ever been predicted correctly after months of blogging prior to the draft. The first round we get, but after that we draft people No One even speculated about. Then we hate these picks for position drafted/ or small school project....etc....Then everyone loves the picks within a week....I love this site but my emotions are in check after round one starting next year...prayers please go out to our military......tom

I always think that's funny too, how the sky is falling the day after the draft and then a few weeks later everyones got man love for even the 5th and 6th rounders.. everyone has their own idea of who the good players are based on their limited (compared to NFL scouts) knowledge of the college game, and then when teams pick players who don't conform to their idea of what an ideal draft is... everyone is in despair. The board was littered with "Terrible draft" "Bill's lost it" "Tight end in the 2nd???" etc etc. Then the front office and sportswriters put the picks in the context of the direction the organization is going, and everyone is back to chugging the koolaid.

When the explanations come out as to why the picks were made the way they did, then we certainly understand better.

The opportunity presented itself for Parcells to bulk up the two tight end attack in the second round. I was hoping for an offensive lineman myself. Taking in consideration the fact that Fasano already has a leg up on Parcells' schemes, it makes for an easier transition.

It also tells me that Parcells is going for the gusto now. I really do not care if he is totally onboard with Terrell or not. The fact remains that there were some games where the Cowboys had difficulty scoring points when they needed to.

That will happen less now.

The Hatcher pick was rather interesting myself. Knowing now that the Patriots were ticked that Dallas got him gets me all giddy.

People need to understand that Parcells collects big versitile tight ends, big versitile linebackers, and big versitile defensive ends.

Hey, I'll go to war with Canty, Spears, Ratliff, and Hatcher as Dallas' defensive ends. Even Greg Ellis if he decides he wants to play this season. How about you?

This team is ready folks!

There were a number of folks who wanted the Cowboys to get some young OL types early in this draft to compete for starting spots and begin to develop. That didn't happen and that fostered more debate than any other thing. I think that it wasn't the 'unknown' players that caused the uproar so much as it was the whole direction the organization took that upset people. It looks like the Cowboys took a risk with the OL and we'll see how it all turns out.

He certainly wanted to play last season, but apparently Parcells didn't feel the same way. Let's hope he changes his mind this season..

I simply love it when we start comparing our low round draft choices with either the top picks in the draft or a Pro Bowl player.

Hilarious.

You must be reading another tread, or you're already drinking this morning.

Either way - noone said that.

Then allow me to refresh your memory ...

Hatcher = Poor Man's Mario Williams
Skylar Green = Poor Man's Steve Smith

I just LOVE those threads ... cus only a die hard, blind as a bat, homer Cowboy fan on a Cowboy internet forum would make those comparisons.

And only a curmudgeon would completely gloss over the "Poor man's" portion of the title, and not bother reading what was written. Choosing rather to see only the two names, and just whine about that, and the nasty ole homers that he looks down his nose at.

There was no whining or questioning last season....that's because we had 2 first round picks, knew we got two very good players, thought we'd found a good LB in round 2, and a steal in round 4 in Canty....

Last year, everyone and the critics in the media thought we were great.

However, we draftnics don't really know anything other than what we read on the internet or in publications, so we chose our draft picks by rankings and glowing descriptions...when the selections sound silly because no one predicted the player going to us or in that round, or when we make a selection at a position that the media didn't tell us was a need, that's when we see the complaining and whining.

Once the media or coaches put the spin on it and tell us that these players were solid, or that we stole them, or how they'll fit in, we love it....not to mention the homerism of not wanting to think we chose busts or reaches...we want to believe.

Bottom line, even the more knowledgeable fans (like myself:D ) still know very little of any real value...we know what we read or what we're told by others who usually are only giving their opinions.

For that reason, we never really know whether our selections are good or not until we see how the players play.

Even some of the worst drafts that we point back to were hoped to be solid for DE's or CB's, etc....guys who are no longer in the NFL.
