I'm worried about our Dline depth, Especially at tackle. Hopefully we stay healthy there and get Ratliff back for the stretch run. Hopefully guys like Carter and Long can hold down the fort.

No doubt, Marinelli's had a huge impact. My comment was more that, when Marinelli and Kiffin say they like the DL talent, it's probably wiser to give them the benefit of the doubt rather than to declare them senile, or lying.

Well if they can make something out of what we have along the DL, it definitely opens this team up to BPA in the future draftwise. Its about time this team was ran correctly, and it looking more and more like that is the case right now. Course its wayyyy too early to make any kind of conclusions cause we are nowhere near close to the end of the season where we have failed many times.

Yep. I agree, completely. At least we're starting to get data, though. We have a better idea now than we did back in training camp when so many were complaining without having anything at all to do on and despite everything the defensive coaches were saying and doing at the time.

Long is a JAG. He gets worked Everytime he's in there.

And we have yet to see what Caesar Rayford or newly signed
David Carter have. Want to see if Rayford can do something.

Rayford got some snaps yesterday, didn't look out of place. I think he'll make a contribution before not too long.

They can't rely on 5 turnovers every game, or even 1. But guys knowing what they're supposed and where they're supposed to be, guys executing and not making dumb mistakes, guys getting consistant pressure on the QB while not overpersuing and losing gap assignments... this appears to be coming together and it looks like it's coaching. It's refreshing.

I also think that Marinelli and Kiffin may be creating this environment that can bring the leadership qualities of some guys out. Hearing what Hatcher did/said did not upset me. If anything it made me happy to hear a real worker like him take the initiative to step up and be a leader. That mentality can spread and you get guys starting to hold each other accountable and not relying on coaches to get in their faces, etc.

This defensive line can't provide a pass rush (outside of Ware).

I know it's true because several have posted it here. :D

With 13.. Chiefs have 15.

I think we will lead the NFL in sacks this year. Why? Because Spencer and Ratliff haven't seen the field yet and we are still very dangerous.

DL is doing good. I like the break down down in sacks. Ware with 4, Hatcher with 3, Selvie with 2 Carter with 2 Wilber 1 and scandrick 1

Except when they said that, a lot of the present DLinemen weren't on the team, right?

When they said it, a lot of the pencilled-in starters were still pencilled-in. Crawford, Ratliff, and Spencer. We're getting quality snaps from players widely considered to be garbage in training camp. I'm not going to fault the coaches or the proscouts for going out and getting players like Rayford if they think they represented an upgrade over what we had. However you slice it, guys like Selvie, Hayden, and Jerome Long are giving us quality reps right now.

Only in a 4-3 can you find guys off the street who can produce like this.

Another reason the 4-3 is a superior scheme. With the 3-4 you need very specific guys with very specific skill sets.

Love this new defense.

More testament to the coachs' skills (and the personel guys'). Still, the 'We're deep at DL' comment included some guys who haven't seen the field yet due to injury, and didn't include guys now playing who weren't yet on the team.

Me, I'd be giving Marinelli a sweet upgrade on his coaching contract, and let him know he'd have a place here when Mr. Kiffen decides to retire....
