The Cowboys already have an established second receiver. His name is Roy Williams. The role of primary receiver will be filled by the same player who's been filling it for the past few years: Jason Witten.

If we are just talking about Roy W the WR, his work ethic, dedication, talent, etc.... it always has been and always will be, up to him, RW the player, to live up to and play up to his potential as a player on the field and more importantly as of late as a team mate on and off the field.

It doesn't matter what the fan perception of him is as a player currently, his role has completely changed now with the departure of TO.

Roy says he is the man, and has always been the number 1, so at least in his head he has the first step completed.

There are current reports that he and Romo have already started getting some time together this off season, and that fact, if indeed true, goes a very long way in building chemistry between the two, a very nice sign if this is true, and I see no reason why it would be mis reported.

That non required effort shows me as a fan, that Romo wants more than anything to get RW on the same page, and get TO out of the picture as fast as he can.

Thats a good thing.

Lets move forward and get the ship righted.

Again, not to be redundant, but Roys biggest obstacle is not his physical ability, thats already in place, but his biggest obstacle will be accepting the role which he claims so adamantly to be true, and thats carrying the load as the number 1.

My worst fear as a fan, is to start hearing from RW early on that he is a possession type WR, and that all the hype that the media is laying on him... and you know thats coming...., is overwhelming, and blah blah blah, excuses. Thats what I fear the most... excuses early on.

Thats the sign of weakness.

We dont want to see that.

So take the reigns Roy, they are yours now. I want to see you come out and wear that Star proud and know what it means to be the number 1 WR on this team,,, your not in Detroit any longer, your a Cowboy now, and know that that comes with a ton of pressure, and media negativity out the ***.

Thats Roys biggest hurdle to overcome.... the game in his head, and his biggest question left to answer... you ready to be the number 1 Roy?

We have a great #2 receiver ... his name is Jason Witten. In fact, if my guess is correct, he and RW will be 1a and 1b this season. Which is which will depend upon the game and the defenses the team faces. Don't forget we also have Felix Jones, who is a helluva receiver out of the backfield. Whoever is opposite Roy Williams will most definitely be the #3 or even #4 option. I'm fine with Austin or Crayton taking that role.

Holt and Boldin are Madden fantasies, but what about a low risk incentive laden contract for someone like Joey Galloway? Yeah, he's old as dirt, but he could help stretch the field for a season or two. I am not even sure Stanback makes the team. Between Stanback, Austin and Hurd at least one of those guys will pull up lame.

Why do we have to have 2 probowl WRs???

I dont understand why we have to have a probowl QB, probowl RB, probowl LT, probowl RG, probowl C, probowl TE, and a pair of probowl WRs for our offense to work.

Exactly how many probowlers does Jason Garrett need to run his offense???

Durability is my issue with all of our WR's. Each one of them have mild to huge injury pasts and only 1 of them can stratch the field, Austin. Talent is there but it's spotty talent.

Believe me, just 1 injury to Roy, Crayton or Austin will severely hinder our passing attack regardless if we'll be running alot of 2 TE and/or 2 RB sets. That trio isn't that vertically dynamic to begin with. Say what you want but T.O still had some deep speed. Roy's speed is deceptive. Crayton is good for those physical up the middle catches, he has to be because he's no vertical threat unless it's a broken play. Austin has deep speed but not for 16 games 3-5 catches a game. Hurd and Stanback, please for anything other than depth that can't stay healthy.

Roy Williams is years removed from the Pro Bowl and only went 1 year out of a 6 year career. He's only played 16 games in 1 season also, that's in 2006 and almost 4 season ago b the time we start this season.

Torry Holt in 10 seasons has played in 16 games every year except for 1 and he played in 14 of them. Now he didn't start every game due to some injury concerns but he played with injury. He is a perennial pro bowler who is a year removed and also is up their yearly for receiving yards prior to this season.

If he wasn't 32 and was Roy's age he'd be worth more than Roy and no way available as was the case in his career. But he is 32 and still has 2 good season's in him and has actually asked to be released. I'd say 900-1,100 yards with 7 TD's is not out of the possibility. He'd be a serious vertical threat also and his team first Superbowl winning character is unquestioned.

The way I saw Jason Witten get banged up last year I know he'll be there for game day but anyone else catching the ball, except Bennett I have no clue. Believe me, as much as we'll miss T.O's TD's, we'll miss losing our most durable WR if we don't get another.

I like Joey's speed also but he's not durable enough. Holt isn't a Madden fantasy, Boldin is. If released we don't have to fork anything but a fair salary over for a couple of years. Durability is also one of Holt's strong suits. I like that he's been to a couple of SB's and has a ring without the me first attitude.

Absolutely he will be. I think he will do much of what Marshall Faulk did. He's dangerous in space. I think he might return some kicks still, but I won't be shocked if we draft a PR and KR to be back there with Stanback. My vote is Mike Thomas of Arizona.

Put ideas of Torry Holt out of your minds. Not going to happen.
And you know this how?
