I haven't posted in awhile and I have been itching to do one of these. It seems like this entire site is in a constant state of depression thanks to free agency and it will probably be like that until ~2 weeks before the draft.

I have said this from the beginning and agree with Norm Hitzges when he says that we need to draft 1,000 pounds with our first 3 picks. That is the missing link with our team and I tried to address that here.

I used this site as a projection for compensatory picks and utilized a couple of different resources to gauge what players would be available.

1. D.J. Fluker - OT, Alabama

Fluker is becoming my hope for out pick at #18. He would help us immediately and give two cornerstones on our o-line for the next 10 years.

2. Kawann Short - DT, Purdue

There will be a lot of DT prospects to choose from. I think his motor issues are overblown - he gets to the QB plain and simple.

3. Travis Frederick - C, Wisconsin

If Bernadeau and Livings are going to be two members on our offensive line next year, I don't want either of them to change positions. Ideally I would like to have as a backup, but there are too many holes to fill and we have no $$$.

4. T.J. McDonald - S, USC

I don't like the fact that we will be spending another 4th round pick on a safety, but we've dug ourselves into a hole where we are going to have to draft for need this year. Knowing Kiffin's system will help.

5. Nico Johnson - LB, Alabama

This guy is all over the field for Alabama and he would be a perfect fit for our SOLB. If somehow all 6 of our picks came from Alabama, I would be completely OK with it.

6. Miguel Maysonet - RB, Stony Brook

Comes from a 2 RB system and never missed a game in his collegiate career. I looked at Randle/Taylor/Franklin in the 4th round, but I think safety is a bigger need for us right now.

UDFA

T.J. Moe - WR, Missouri
Levine Toilolo - TE, Stanford
Travis Bond - OG, North Carolina
Vernon Kearney - CB, Lane
Colby Cameron - QB, Louisiana Tech
Scott Kovanda - P, Ball State
Braden Wilson - FB, Kansas State

Frederick has a decent shot to go at the end of round 1, and will not be there mid round 3.

Overall I can live with it, just not sure how realistic it is. Pretty confident we go safety before DT.

Drops happen all the time.

Unless you have a crystal ball, you can't say that we will go S before DT. Kawann Short in the 2nd round would be a better get than any of the safeties that would be available.

If the draft were a gender, it would most definitely be female. Very unpredicatable, and usually doesn't follow any kind of sensible pattern.

Love your first 3 picks
I am not a fan of McDonald

If the first 3 rounds fall this way, I would trade into the 3 rd and take swearinger or stay in 4th and take Rambo

You are talking 4 starters in the first 4 rounds

I really love your first three picks. If we somehow ended up with Fluker, Short, and Frederick, it would go a long way towards fixing our trenches.

Fantastic if it happened but I'm afraid Short would be gone prior to our second pick and Frederick would be gone prior to our third.

Still nice to think about though.

As for McDonald... there are several Safeties I'd rather have that might be there: Shamarko Thomas, Shawn Williams, Tyler Jefferson, JJ Wilcox.

I just don't like McDonald very much.

Agree with this guy.. Like your first 3 picks but there are much better safeties than mcdonald even in round 5 probably

Had all those guys gone before our McDonald pick.

Oh boy, you managed to get two of my least favorite players in this mock. Fluker and McDonald?

If this is the way the draft fell, my immediate reaction would be to pile all my hopes on Short as I do actually like him quite a bit. Especially in the 2nd.

So draft for need and we will have free agent money in the sig.

Not your best effort, Bobert.
