I guess this shows we're not as abysmal in that area as many make out.The guys are good against the run, but considering that Canty and Spears have a sack each compared to Ratliff's 4, one has to wonder if we should play Ratliff more.

It's too early to call either Spears or Canty a bust, but it's not unreasonable to hope for better production (whether that come with a change of scheme , who knows.)

are those sack totals or are they sacks from the 3-4 D alignment? SO, if Ratliif gets a sack out of a Nickle set then that makes the limited production out of the 3-4 set okay?

It is misleading using simply the sack numbers of all defensive lineman of baase 3-4 teams. Almost all the Cowboys' 9.5 have actually come from a four man nickel front.

yeah I guess so. Of course that leads to the question of how many sacks the other team got from a base 3-4 alignment and whether getting sacks in such a formation is inherently difficult in that system.
