1- It is the job of the head coach to come up with a strategy that gives his team a chance to win, the rest is in the hands of the players. Parcells can't go on the field and kick field goals or run block, the players have to execute his gameplan. I have more than enough trust in our HC to know that he is capable of coming up with a good gameplan every week. With the exception of the debacle yesterday, we have been in EVERY SINGLE GAME this year. Don't blame Parcells for ANY OF THE LOSSES EXCEPT FOR YESTERDAY. Up until yesterday, every loss we had, we were in the game until the final seconds and had the chance to win EVERY ONE OF THEM. I don't want to hear crap about how the game has passed him by, he is a very good coach with a lot of experience.
2- Don't tell me Bledsoe is past his prime and we need a mobile QB. Vick is the most mobile QB this league has ever seen and he was taking a beating last night. The same is true for Carr and Culpepper (before injury.) These are just 3 examples of QB's who are "mobile" yet get pounded. Here are some stats for you:
Carr- 64 Sacks
Brooks- 33 Sacks
Culpepper- 31 Sacks (in only 7 starts)
Michael Vick- 26 sacks
Brunnell - 25 sacks
Let it also be noted that none of these QB's have an arm like Bledsoe's.
Bledsoe had been sacked 39 times, only second to David Carr. I believe this is a combination of both him being too brave in the pocket and the OL stinking up the place. Now lets look at immobile QB's like Bledsoe who have an OLine
Delhomme- 24 Sacks
Brees- 23 Sacks
Brady- 23 Sacks
Hasselbeck- 21 sacks
Frerotte- 21 sacks
Favre- 19 Sacks
Palmer- 18 Sacks
Manning- 16 Sacks
Now compare the quality of QB's in the first and second list. I'll take the "immobile" pocket passer with a good Oline over any of the mobile guys any day of the week. We all know how good Bledsoe can be with time in the pocket, we have a more than serviceable QB. We need our OLine revamped, not only for the passing game, but for the running game as well.
3- When asked before the season what most of us thought our record would be, a lot of us said, realistically, 10-6. That was under the assumption that Flo and Dat would be healthy and our place kicker would be able to kick 34 yards with ease. Well we are down to the wire here and have a very good shot at going 10-6... Why does everyone act so suprised? This is a young team, just look at how many rookies we have starting or playing a significant role.
Ware- starting
Spears - starting
Canty - has started/contributes immensely
Barber- has started/contributes immensely
Pettiti- starting
Not to mention it's Keith Davis first year at safety and the first year for the following players:
Ferguson
Rivera
Bledsoe
Henry
Glenn
Fujita
Now have these guys been playing a while? YES, but there is a little thing called chemistry that this team doesn't have quite yet. We need some time to mesh.
That is my monday morning rant.
