#31 Micah Pellerin?

Thanks to #31, for a little while last night, I thought I was watching Terence Newman in a Cowboy uniform deja vu all over again.

Third or fourth and goal from the 5 yard line, let's play 7 yards off the WR. Yeah, I really miss those days.

He mad e T-New look like a HOFer...

Mostly, what I saw was a mixed bag of good coverage, poor coverage, then terrible tackling followed by good tackling. Put it all together and you have an inconsistent outing. He looks to be mostly a mediocre player and a lower-echelon backup at best. His good moments were good but his bad ones were very bad.

I personally said he should be cut today on twitter, now in a way I dont like that I said it because I dont like ripping our players but his play was not good, I think he was in some VERY good situations, the out of bounds INT and the missed INT but came up short, his tackling however was piss poor. In his next attempt teams will go at him its up to him to come up big or play his way out of that uniform

Was Weems that bad? He was trying to block the 3rd pick in the draft, that tends to make any developing player look bad at times.... But I thought I saw some potential, especially working with Callahan.... But who knows once Demetrius Bell and Parnell get back he won't have much of a shot beside the practice squad anyway...

I think you missed Pellerin's abysmal attempt at a tackle with his shoulder when he should have opened up and wrapped the player with his arms. He made two mistakes I recall. first was the tackle and second was losing the edge on Gray's run.

Actually not only would he be starting on any and every HS team in America, but if he came out of HS at this skill level as an 18 yr old he would probably be one of the most coveted HS seniors in the nation.

Don't lose your perspective here. Just cause he made a couple mistakes doesn't make HS kids anywhere near his skill and experience level.

Odds are in a one on one, helmet to helmet, Oklahoma drill with your best HS corners he would be putting the majority of those kids in the trainer's room. He's got two years in the league. Six foot buck ninety five. Don't kid yourself here.

I did in fact list the play early in the third quarter where Pellerin attempted to tackle the WR with his shoulder. The official stats credited him with the tackle on that play.
I did in fact list the play early in the fourth quarter where Pellerin lost contain on Grays run. You should know that when Miami ran a very similar play on a 4th and 2 later in the fourth quarter, Pellerin quickly released the WR to the inside; was in perfect position to and he did in fact tackle the back coming out of the backfield (he used his arms to wrap up this time) for a two yard loss. The official stats credited Pellerin with a solo tackle for a loss.
Pre season reps are designed to provide the player an opportunity to learn from his mistakes. The next time the flow of the game afforded Pellerin an opportunity to correct the "two mistakes" you mention, he did just that. THE TAPE DON'T LIE.

I saw Pellerin's one handed interception in the 4th qtr. nullified because he stepped out of bounds and came back on to the field, saw his PBU in the 4th qtr. nullified by offsetting penalties and his pass deflection in the end zone late in the 4th qtr. Are you saying there were 2 or maybe three other passes "right in [Pellerin's] hands" where he had a chance at an interception but he didn't catch them?

I think its funny that people underestimate backup players. They are professionals, 4th string or not. If the guy was on a high school team he would be the best CB in America.
