A linebacker at the four pick is like going to the Mercedes showroom with $500k in your pocket and walking out with a Toyota Camry.

Ill take the nice, new, reliable Camry over the '82 pinto that you have to keep dumping $ in to.

The bust QB you would like to force pick is the '82 pinto in your crappy car metaphor.

1. Who you think the pick will be Myles Jack - best player in draft, regardless of position

2. Who you want the pick to be Myles Jack - immediate impact, pro bowl talent

3.. Who you fear the pick will be but don't want Myles Jack - player returning from injury worries me a bit, especially this high

3. Who might be a reach but would make sense. Maybe they try to trade back but no takers so just take the player anyway and would end up being a solid player.
Andrew Billings - anywhere in the 1st would be too high for a 1 tech in Marinelli system, but kid is a beast

Looking for your opinions of

1. Who you think the pick will be

2. Who you want the pick to be.

3.. Who you fear the pick will be but don't want

3. Who might be a reach but would make sense. Maybe they try to trade back but no takers so just take the player anyway and would end up being a solid player.

I will give mine.

!. Myles Jack - I think ultimately he will be the best player on the board at pick no 4 and he fills a need. Superior athlete with play making ability.

2. I want to trade down and get more picks.

3. Any of the QB's

4. Spence - I think pick 4 is early but I could see him being the pick and I could see it end up being a good pick.

Mines:

1. LB Myles Jack
2. DT DeForest Buckner
3 QB.Jared Goff
4. QB Paxton Lynch

I can. Fans are short sighted. They can't see anything past right now. Instant gratification is what they want and they'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow.

It's why you see draft for need, let's beat the Commanders and hurt our own draft positioning in a lost season and this gas face reaction to a QB who may not be on the field for a few years.

Of course that type of mindset, should the GM share it, makes for a worse tomorrow but Go My Team! Ya dig?

Another great post

Are you scout ? From what I have read , there is a couple decent prospects At the QB position. Better yet , what is your longer plan at the QB position? Did you like the post-Aikman years ? I guess you could be in the camp that thinks Romo will play another 5 years. Please clarify your position . I can't understand the logic behind it at all.

I've got about seven guys that I think might be worth taking there: Jack, Bosa, Goff, Wentz, Tunsil, Treadwell, Elliott.

I won't complain if any of them are taken, and a case can be made that there might be other players higher on Dallas' board to consider.

I just want a player who makes his position much better. I'm easy that way.

You keep talking like its QB or nothing. If our scouts say 1 is a franchise QB and he's available at 4 you take him. If not you take the best player possible, LB or not.

All I'm saying is statistically the odds of 2 of these guys being a franchise QB aren't in our favor and the best QB in the class is likely to be gone at #2. Can we agree on that?

You are assuming, it's not Jack vs a QB, it's Jack vs a QB OR....a trade down and potential stud starters at multiple positions..like say Elliott at RB plus Billings at DT vs Jack at four. The calculus is much more complex.
But also, when Romo is hurt again or just gets to the done point in the next few years, which is gonna happen, we can revisit this discussion and wonder why we made the same mistake as what we did towards the end of Aikman's career and ended up irrelevant for 15 years. Not saying it HAS to be this year but here we are again, running out of years at the game's most important position with zero options for the future and we are running out of years to groom someone. No matter who we bring in via FA, they aren't the long term answer. I have nothing against Jack, great player, but QB post Romo needs to be addressed SOON.

I feel pretty confident we don't trade back, but, sure, it's a possibility. I included it as 1 of the only 5 possibilities I can see us doing with the pick.

I'm not naive, I know we need to remedy the future QB situation. Romo isn't getting any younger and is obviously injury prone. This is all painfully obvious to everyone with 1/2 a brain. But everybody has to acknowledge the fact of how far drafting a QB that is a bust would set the franchise back. I'm not pretending to know who is or isn't a franchise QB in this draft, but what I do know is that the odds of 2 of them being great are slim and we have second crack (at best) at taking 1. Normally I'd feel fine letting the Browns choose 1st, but I believe Hue Jackson knows what he's doing when it comes to QB's. I've never once said I'm against taking a QB. I'm on the firm stance of I don't know, let the scouts a their jobs. This whole discussion started because I think it's stupid to narrow in on 1 position and eliminate others because of a perceived value of the pick.

1. Goff or Wentz - I'm still not convinced the Cowboys don't select Romo's heir apparent.
2. Trade down to 11-15, pick Robinson or Billings. Either is a big upgrade at DT. Billings combines Ngata-type strength and quickness like Russell Maryland. He would lead the Cowboys in TFL.
3. Ramsey - he would easily be an improvement at safety but no. 4 is too high a pick given all the holes to fill.
4. Elliott - a reach at 4 but is the best back in the draft and would give the Cowboys a great rushing attack along with McFadden.

Jalen Ramsey.

Albino Jesus.

Jalen Ramsey.

Paxton Lynch.

I honestly don't think Lynch would be a reach. When all is said and done I think he has a very good chance to jump Goff amd Wentz and go to Cleveland. His combination of arm strength and touch is rare and very coveted. I believe once team work outs are done he is going to be the top rated QB.

I personally prefer Wentz amd Goff, but just what I think is going to happen
