4th and 6, you gotta go for the 1st

OP is incorrect.

You have to kick there.

The problem is the playcalling on the series after Ceedee's big catch. And of course the holding penalty, but that was a bad playcall anyway. Needed to focus on getting shorter completions inbounds and chewing clock and a few yards a play.

That's exactly what happened. They kicked a FG then lost...
They didn’t play for a FG just ended up having to take a FG. At that point in the game at that field position the only way you’re going for it is if you’re a 11 year old playing Madden

Brady still had time to get a TD, assuming your 4th and 6 call actually works. He was throwing the ball away to kill clock in the end.
Right. Posters saying the Z cost the game are wrong. It’s pretty obvious Tampa could’ve scored a TD instead of kicking the FG if they had 2.

Especially if you're just playing for the kick anyway, as they certainly seemed to be on 3rd down.

well the penalty made that impossible. But from the very first play, they should have been looking for short routes towards the middle of the field. don't stop the clock, but gain a good 4-7 yards per play consistently. That was what was needed to bleed clock and win.

As a long time Garrett basher and a one year MM hater, I’m actually very impressed with the coaching overall. They put the team in a position to win, the odds of making the 4th & 6 weren’t good and they did take the lead. Who knows how this ends if not for a missed offensive PI. The coaching was as good as I have seen in decades, I just hope this keeps up and the team learns to win these.

Sorry. We said it at the time (I say "we" because so many of us said it). 4th and 6th, 1:42 left, you HAVE to try for the first down instead of kicking a FG. Some of you will counter with, "well, that's what the defense is paid to do, make a stop late in the game, with a lead." Sure. That works against Tom Brady as much as it did against Aaron Rodgers a few years back in the playoffs.

A first down there should have put the Cowboys in better FG range while bleeding the clock. Sometimes you've gotta make that unconventional call, especially when going up against the GOAT. Had they not made the first down? Not mad...how could we be? We knew Brady would bring them back anyway.

Your fired!!!!

No you go for the FG.. but the real issue was clock management and leaving to much for the Goat

If you're playing for a FG there you've already lost.

And that was the problem, they played for a FG, as if there was less than 30 seconds left for the Brady and the Bucs. Instead, there was like 1:45 left, and the Bucs had TOs. So that was just bad coaching. Of course once you get to 4th down, you gotta kick the FG, but the Cowboys should have been playing to WIN, so that means continue running efficient passing plays that were working all game long, to get more first downs, and to try to score a TOUCHDOWN. That was not the time to get conservative, and try to run out the clock, on 2nd and 10...leaving only one down to continue the drive. Utter incompetence at the coaching position. And even if the Cowboys would have got the stop, miraculously, and won the game, I'd say the same thing: BAD COACHING. Of course, they didn't get the stop, and the rest is history.

As soon as they ran the ball on 2nd and 10, you knew they were playing for the FG, and that was just plain stupid with that much time left on the clock and the Bucs still having TOs.

The Cowboys had to get at least 1 more first down to make the Bucs use all their TOs, and 2 first downs almost seal the game with a made-FG.

So, again, the Cowboys are stuck with a bad HC, who didn't know how to manage the game in the end.

And for all those yards, the game was still lost in the Red Zone, where the Cowboys had to kick FGs and the Bucs scored TDs. Looking like yet another year where the Cowboys won't be consistent at punching it in...and you have to blame Moore's play calling, and the players executing. Same crap, different year.
