Here is an article I wrote on The Landry Hat regarding 5 defensive end prospects. I intend to do a different position every week. The players in this piece are:

Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
Charles Harris, DE, Missouri
Carl Lawson, DE, Auburn
DeMarcus Walker, DE, Florida State

Walker is interesting,i like his play but he may be more suited for playing 3T in our Defense,if they think he compares to Aaron Donald then they should draft him.I like Mckinley,Taco and Harris in that order.

I'm torn between McKinley and Harris. Taco is intriguing, but his slow reaction to the snap scares me. I'm sure he can be coached up though. I don't want Walker in round 1.

Taco has the most potential but may have the lowest floor. Still my top choice though

Lawson could be a steal but we currently have 2 DE who currently is and may possibly have a injury filled career in Lawrence and Tapper. So we should stay away from injury prone players in the 1st and 2nd round this year at the least.

I don't think Takk McKinley will be in our range.

Charles Harris is probably the safest edge rusher we can draft.

Walker isn't a Weakside end. Most likely a day 2 type pick. Would love to have walker rotate with Collins at 3 tech. Will allow us to make Crawford a June 1st cut.

Takk will be gone by 28. I like Carl Lawson if he's there at 28. Perfect fit for what Rod likes in a DE. Quick twitch explosive pass rusher.

All of these players have reason to give me pause, some more than others. Carlton makes the most sense.

I want nothing to do with DeMarcus Walker.

Harris for me!, although I like Charlton, how about Ryan Anderson for a Blitzing SLB?

McKinley is the only RD1 small DE I see who could be athletic enough for OLB and strong enough to move up to the line as a nickel rusher. Looks to have some length as well. As others have said though, a 34 DEF team is going to covet McKinley enough to take him before 28.

Charlton is the only one listed who fits our type at 28. Not an ideal RDE but maybe more of a solid all-arounder...which would be a step up. A Greg Ellis - capable at RDE but more suited for LDE. Honestly, I think he's gone by 28 as well.

TJ Watt is a more likely a consideration than some of these. Kpassagnon might move all the way up to early-to-mid 2nd area, making him a consideration at 28 as well.

All good points and I'm mostly in agreement. Harris is my top choice, but Taco'so potential doea excited me. If anyone can coach him up and get him going you would have to believe Rod can.

Im with you. If for some reason both Harris and Taco are sitting their I'm going to be split the entire time we are on the clock on who i want. I think Harris has potential to be the better pass rusher but Taco has the ability to be the better all around player. actually thinking about it i would rather have have the guy who can get me 10 sacks and a 17 TFL then a guy who will get me 12.5 sacks but constantly have a hard time in the run support. But in the end im open to both of them. They would need to have horrible cone drills and 10 yard splits for me to get off their trains.

If they are both there it's almost a coin toss for me, but it would be a great problem to have. It's a good year to need pass rushers I just hope the chips fall in a favorable manor.

Yea their is a chance neither one will be at our pick. At that point lets just take the BPA with might be a DB. I just hope the draft goes in a way that we can get a defensive player. We have so many defensive needs that if a CB or DT or Safety we didn't think we had a chance at then ill be happy.
