7 Hidden Questions that need answering from the Dallas Cowboy players!

1. Special teams! Who takes over on special teams coverage's for Keith Davis, the Dallas Cowboys special teams ace gun runner, Jacquee Reeves and Nate Jones. We all saw how the Cowboys got beat with big punt returns and kickoff returns against them late in December and January. So, what is the main problem with the Dallas Cowboys coverage's, the special teams coach or the gunrunners on those units. It has been documented last year that some of the special teams players questioned special teams coach Reid on their coverage units.

2. Who is backup to Tony Romo as quarterback in case of injury to Romo, over 3-7 games? Most Dallas Cowboys fans know that Brad Johnson cant throw the ball really deep, and he is a dead duck sitting in the pocket. So, who steps up as backup QB, Bartel or possibly the trade or acquiring of Chris Sims?

3. Who is backup to the offensive linemen? Most Dallas Cowboys fans saw that when Center Gurode went down with an injury, backup Proctor didn't really provide acdequate insurance for playing time. Along with that same sentiment towards the Center Gurode, more practice time is needed for the shotgun snaps between Romo and Gurode. The Cowboys were really lucky last year with some over the head snaps of the football to Romo. Finally on the offensive line, who is the backup to the OG and OT? Could it be possibly be that Flozell Adams and Columbo wore down at the end of the year, and those players need some spelling by adequate quality playing of capable offensive linemen. Again, its time for McQuistan, a vet, Doug Free and James Marten to step up and take that challenge.

4. Where does Bobby Carpenter come into play on this 3-4 defense? Wade Phillips has been known for his expertise in the 3-4 defense, its time for a supposedly great former defensive coordinator to use a # 1 draft pick in Bobby Carpenter to utilize his talents on the field and show Phillips expertise in getting Carpenter to excel and show the worth that the Cowboys selected him in the 1st round.

5. Minute before halftime meltdowns and defense letdowns in the last few minutes of the ballgame. I am not sure if your aware of the meltdowns on defense in such key situations last year, but against the Giants last year, in New York before halftime, the Cowboys let the Giants back into the ball game last year. The same thing happened in the playoff game against the Giants, right before halftime, the Giants scored. So, who was calling defensive signals in those games, whom was responsible for such a letdown. There is an old saying; you can beat me possibly the first time, but not the second time. However, this was done in the New York Giants game in New York, luckily the Cowboys didn't let that happen in the 2nd half in New York. But by doing so, letting the Giants score right before halftime, in New York, gave the Giant players the knowledge that they could do the same thing in Dallas during the playoff game. That cant happen again, that situation for whatever reason, whether Stewart or Phillips was calling the defensive signals needs to be corrected so that it doesn't happen again. NO MORE EXCUSES!!!
6. Dave Campo has been noted by saying that the Dallas Cowboys didn't utilize Roy Williams strength, but put Roy in situations that he possibly couldn't have success. Campo is well known as a great defensive backfield coach, so now its time for Campo to show his capabilities in teaching Roy Williams to show more yearning to study film. We as Cowboy fans, remember how Darren Woodson has stated in 2003 how he caught Roy Williams sneaking out after practice, but Woodson caught him doing such, and made him sit down and study film, and prepare better. So, Campo needs to keep that watchful eye on Roy Williams, put him in situations where he stays in shape, studies film and utilizes his strength and putting him in situations to be the player he was his first 2 years in pro football.
7. Camp Cupcake or Camp Marshmellow or Camp Finish. It has been documented that the players have said their main motto this year is to FINISH! Well, that's all good, but its now time to put up or shut up. Jerry Jones has done his job above and beyond by resigning key players like Newman, Barber, T O, Hamlin and a few others, getting Zach Thomas a leader on and off the field, acquiring quality coaches in Campo, Houck, and others. Now, its time for Wade Phillips to step up to the plate, show some footspah, for Phillips to accept constructive critism, learn from his past 4 playoff losses as head coach, to see what he needs to change, because it has worked. Along those lines, like the players say Finish is our motto, the team takes on the personality of the Head Coach, a documented fact. Well, Phillips has to Finish too, by studying, preparing and scheming, even work hard himself in December and January towards those playoff wins and championships, as super bowl as well.

Importance of these questions, in order.

7 - Right or wrong Wade's neck is squarely on the line. Imagine a similar ending in 2008 as 2007 and Wade probably doesn't make it off the Texas Stadium field before he is either fired by Jerry or tar & feathered by the fans or both. Sadly for Wade, winning it all might not be enough either with #1 pick Jason Garrett on the bench.

5 - Defensive meltdowns whether in crunch time or mid-game must stop. This is why AJ, MJ & Scandrick were added and Reeves & Jones allowed to leave. Its also why Henry saw a little coverage role at times during OTA's.

6 - Roy. If run stopping & playmaking are his strengths, then lets see it consistently. Also might want to consider Roy's culpability in #5 above.

1 - Plenty of room for improvement on ST's (FG's aside thankfully!). Again, the turnover of Reeves, Jones & Davis needs to be a positive, rather than negative. Otherwise, lookout.

2 - I'm choosing to believe Tony stays mostly healthy this year because he's still young, elusive and his healthy O-line is reasonably good at pass protection. We could even survive a couple weeks with Brad at the helm IMO. But if Tony missed significant time and/or was unavailable for the playoffs, the dream would be over.

3 - Yeah we're very unproven at the o-line backup spots. Hopefully that remains untested. If it becomes necessary, its not certain doom, just a question mark. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

4 - Carpenter. Again, the liklihood of Carpenter being a major influence in 2008 is not likely - fingers crossed. I think this is more intrigue than influence. Its quite normal to wonder what the future of a former #1 is when he has sat for two straight years.

I think the defensive meltdowns should be fewer for a few reasons

#1 a better understanding of the defensive system

#2 these guys are sick of letting them happen

#3 replaced Reeves and Jones with Pacman and Jenkins

#4 Zach Thomas aka some veteran leadership

#5 Dave Campo is back coaching the secondary

special teams should improve in the return game but were just gonna have to wait and see how our kick/punt coverage units are.
