If this is what football turns into one day, I'm OUT.

Amen.

Something like that might work in San Diego or somewhere, but try it in extreme weather conditions.

Yeah, innovative for the high school scene.

But rarely do things from the high school or college game translate well into the NFL scheme of things.

Like King Solomon said, It's all been tried before, there is nothing new under the sun.

Somewhere, in a darkened, projector-filled room outside of Lubbock Tx, Mike Leach is laughing maniacally.

I call gimmick. I also call a major trouncing once there is enough tape and a real defensive mind has viewed it.

Why? To many moving parts to keep track off. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) You have a QB that has to watch 6+ receivers and an option? What happens if you 5th and 6th read have their guys blitz. What if that rusher has Ware type speed? I say road kill is the outcome.

I can remember many new "schemes" that were supposed to revolutionize the game, but disappeared before they were ever heard of. Trick plays don't materialize in the NFL.

it says all are eligible to catch, the center isnt tho.Someone like Vick would wreak havoc in this offense. The qb doesnt have much time but if he can scramble how could a defense stop it?Always a reciever open.

Thats pretty cool. On Madden i came up with some pretty cool formations but man when you try to use them in a game it doesnt quite work the way you had hoped. And in that A11 offense, someone is always running free to the QB, need someone who can move. Give it a few more years and that will be NFL football.

No, it says that there are still only five eligible to catch the ball -- they haven't changed the rules of football. The other spread out guys can only take laterals.

That's pretty cool. Dunno if it would translate to the NFL, but that's pretty innovative and interesting. My cousin goes to Piedmont actually.

both qbs would get killed in the nfl. in the nfl, only 5 guys are allowed to cross the line of scrimmage as long as the ball is in the qbs hands and he is behind the line of scrimmage... i do not see this ever working in the nfl

Hate to come off shallow and closed-minded, but I hate it. Ok I'll admit its somewhat interesting and wouldn't mind seeing it experimented with at lower levels of competition.

Just not in the NFL. This is far to much a variation of what the game is now and was always ment to be.

If this catches on at lower levels, I wouldn't mind a rule change or two to keep this out of the NFL. Something that would force teams to keep some semblance of a traditional OL. Teams must employ 5 offensive lineman within 8 yards of where the ball is snapped.

I can't stand that. I love smashmouth football, which is how it should be.

However, for a small high school who probably has very few big guys, it isn't such a bad idea. Rather than just get OL who are way too small or completely un-athletic... just do without the big guys up front and just use some of the more athletic small guys as WR's and TE's.

It wouldn't work anywhere else... but for those few schools who fit that description, they might be more competitive with that kind of offense.

Doesn't really matter to me because that will never go above the high school level.

I'm definitely not an authority either way, but here is someone's comments from another board I visit. It's a pretty unique take on offense.

the way it gets around the number rules is that its called a kick scrimmage formation - in which ALL 11 players are numbered 1-49 and 80-89.

This formation is legal on any down.

It requires 7 guys on the LOS and the end guys and backfield guys are eligible for a pass past the LOS. They must have one guy 7 yards deep in a position to take a snap - he does not have to receive the snap, just be a potential recipient of the snap.

Its like they are running a fake punt on every down.

EVERYONE is eligible for a reverse or pass behind the LOS

So the defense comes to the line not really knowing who the "blockers" and "ball carriers" are on a given play. That is where the confusion comes in.

On one play, #44 may be running a play as if he's a full back and the next play, he's a WR, then he's leading a sweep like an OG.

Same with any other guy on the field.

It forces a defense to get its big sloppy DLs off the field and play with 11 DBs and LBs who can run.
