If Jerry did this on Saturday what would your opinion on this trade be.

Also what about a 1st and 2nd this year and a 3rd next year.

I wouldnt want to do it but its kinda sounds like Jerry may try to move up and get him.

Jerry may want to move up to get him, but I don't see him giving up that many draft picks. Maybe they save picks by throwing in Julius Jones if they really want to make a move.

With Jones, Barber, and Thompson already in the basket. No. One of them would need to be in the mix instead of a draft choice. Maybe even Thompson and Jones instead of the 2nd.

I think everyone on this board knows where I stand on Peterson.

that would be a great trade. I really don't see that being enough to get it done -- if Peterson drops, teams are going to be bidding for the pick - that will drive the price up. The value chart goes out the window when a top 5 talent falls.

I actually wouldn't mind that trade. The :banghead: smilie was for the thread in general. THere's already like 19 billion other "trade for AP scenario" threads in this forum. And it's a moot point since there's no chance we'll get him.

Peterson is an incredible RB. Miles a head of every other RB in the draft. If he can be durable in the league, this guy would be a fantastic draft choice

You guys do realize we got over 2000 total yards and 20 TDs from Jones/Barber last year right? That was with a pretty iffy OL too.

Tyson Thompson has no trade value. After 2 years in the NFL, he's only a RB with real good straight ahead speed who rarely plays in the backfield cause he can't block/pick up blitzes. He's a pretty decent punt returner but even then his straight ahead running usually only gets us to around the 37 because he can't cut and constantly runs into other players. Miles Austin replaced Thompson when he got hurt and showed more at PR then Thompson. Austin, who never played on ST in college and is in his first NFL season, even returned a punt for a TD in the Seattle game. Frankly, I'd be very surprised if Thompson wins that job from Austin & might not even make the team.

what you have in bold wouldn't be that bad, since the 3rd next year basically equates to a 4th in this year's draft, so we'd really only be giving up a 2nd and a 4th for Peterson, that wouldn't gut us

but it might cost more than that to do it

One must remember that other teams will almost certainly be trying for Peterson as well. I forsee a serious bidding war.

Tyson Thompson returned kick offs. He doesn't return punts because he's doesn't seem to have any type of moves.

This would be worth considering, but I think Peterson would have to fall quite a bit for it to be possible.

Even so, I'm not that crazy about it.

IF .... he can be durable. Better be pretty sure that the past injuries were one time flukes if you are going to give away a lot for the guy.

What the hell this has to do with the topic is beyond me.

That's exactly what it will take to move into the position to draft Peterson...

Not sure I like it... he is a talent but I'm wary of him...

I'd trade 4 average players to get a great player, yeah. I can find average players all over the place.

I'd trade Spears (1st rounder) Burnett (2nd rounder) Fasano (2nd rounder) and swap this years 1st with whomever to get a Peterson or CJ.
I'm not speaking to actually trade these players, but you can see what we've drafted, and this is what it would take to move up this far, and I'd trade them in to get a star.
IOW, this is the year to move up and get someone special. We don't have a ton of glaring needs, so where are all these players that we're going to draft going to fit it?

I'll bet that we only find 1 possibly 2 starters out of this draft class, atleast for the next 2 or 3 years. We'll force another 2 to start, who should have no business starting.

depending on where we moved up to get him, that sounds about right

honestly if they are sold on the guy being a bigtime RB and an upgrade to the team its worth it and I'd have no problem for it...you have to also figure if they trade up for Peterson they are also going to trade Jujo for a 2nd or 3rd rd pick in this yrs or next yrs draft...so a 1-2-2 or a 1-2-3 isnt that far fetched

but there will be teams ahead of us also looking to deal up for him too...even if he gets past Cleveland you have to figure getting him is still a long shot for us...I'd say if he gets to 9 at Miami we may have a shot

I agree.
I'd make that trade in a minute. But I don't think Peterson will come that cheap.
