Before judging the trade, how about waiting to see who the Cowboys take in the 3rd and 4th or do with the extra picks?

Draft value chart says...

51st pick worth 390.

75th pick worth 215. 110th pick worth 74.

So according to the chart, we lost out on this trade... 390 to 289.

All I can say is that the scouts must really think this draft stinks in the first couple of rounds.

The only consolation would be Parrish thrown in.

I bet we trade back up here pretty soon. We probably have a lot of these players rated similar.

Or that the guy we would have taken at 51 isn't much better than what we could get at 75, which probably is correct.

What SHOULD we have gotten?

Another pick would have been nice. Even if you come up short on the "value points," getting three picks for one can be a pretty good deal.

But when you don't like your draft position, sometimes you take what you can get. And in a weak draft, most of the trades down have been for less value than normal.

Yes, exactly.

I wish we could have gotten a bit more, though. But since this is considered a weak class at the top, no one wants to pay too much.

so we move down everyone most of you want to call it a dumb move. but when Belichek does it, it is a great move, he's a so call draft genius. Belichek said he did not like the draft this year, so he kept trading down, until guys that he like were there when his turn came up to pick.

All the guys that we liked has been picked before our turn came, because we gave too much for suspect Roy Williams.

We may have a deal in the works with either the Browns, because they did draft two good youngsters, and they want to move Braylon, or we could be talking with the Cards to get Boldin, right now we do not know what is going on.

Maybe we just want to do a lot of the second day picking, our second day picks the last 2 drafts has been our most successful players the last 2 seasons.

You should post your comment as a seperate thread BHendri. It's what I was JUST going to do: JJ must really trust his scouting dept. for tomorrow. I mean REALLY trust them. I dunno..........................................one nice draft last year doesn't mean we draft like N.england or Pitt...

What I haven't heard mentioned is pay. How much more does a 2nd get paid than a 3rd and a 4th? If the talent isn't much better, maybe it is a salary cap move?

IMO, the players the Cowboys hoped would drop didn't, and there isn't much (if any) difference between the guys between 51-75 area.

no way, you don't move 25 or so spots for a 5th.

Well, we all know now that it was actually a third and a fourth... on one level, I can understand this, I have long said that the strength of this draft is the 3rd and 4th rounds... but Jerry let himself get hosed on this trade, those two picks don't come within 100 points of equalling the value of pick 51...

I don't know, gang... I really don't know what's in his mind...
