You are correct. I was thinking UTEP, but that was Tolbert. Add him to my respect ASU list.joseephuss;1643939 said:Isn't Jim Jeffcoat also a Sun Devil?

I say let's replace Brad Johnson and the missing 3rd QB with both McCown brothers this off season.dogunwo;1644076 said:There is no way we could bring in another guy this season, but I would be very much in favor of trading as high as a 4th or 5th for McCown in the off-season. With JaMarcus on board, and Culpepper there, the Raiders should be more willing to deal. McCown has shown flashes of ability, and has a playing style similar to Romo.

YOU are on the Leftwich bandwagon?superpunk;1644361 said:I'm really not sure why this thread isn't about Byron Leftwich.
Walters was a disaster in Oakland. Displayed almost no talent, despite Raiders fans big to-do about how talented he is.
He was garbage - and I know how bad their franchise is. But at least a little talent should shine through. It didn't, not with Walter.
Sorry Hos, don't see the point. Bartel can be our project for now.

Even when you're getting killed on a bad team, you can show talent. Walters showed none.ABQCOWBOY;1644411 said:I honestly don't know how anybody would know if he has talent or not, based on his play with Oakland. I had opportunity to watch him last year and I'm not kidding when I say that he was literally running for his life on almost every play. 46 Sacks less then 12 full games. That's over 60 sacks for a season. That's a lot.
superpunk;1644427 said:No. That was just a rib.

And he just got finished being beaten out by Josh McCown (who I like).jterrell;1644436 said:i just dont see us adding a qb at all unless romo gets injured.
we could swap out ps qbs if someone we like better than bartel comes available but I don't see us using a roster spot on a guy that doesn't participate on any special teams and just eats a roster space.
the obvious reason to have a 3rd qb is as a developmental player but walter is as about as old as romo.

ABQCOWBOY;1644447 said:I have to agree with Fuzzy on this. The Oakland offense was horrible. I mean, it's not even about talent with that offense last year. They run a vertical offense and couldn't keep guys off the QB long enough to even complete three and five step drops. To me, the guy just had no chance last year. I don't know how good or bad he is. He just never had opportunity to get anything done, that I could see.
superpunk;1644461 said:It's kind of the same line of thinking everyone wants to have with Spears and Canty - that they were just being held back by scheme and coaching ineptitude.
That's rarely the case. You can still play the hell out of your position no matter how stupid your coaching staff is. You might not produce, but you'll show flashes. Walters didn't do that at all last year. There's no reason to think he'll change.
ABQCOWBOY;1644480 said:No, it's nothing like that. You can not compare a kid who got thrown into the starting QB position with no prior starts and no talent on offense to a couple of young DLs who have had starting experience and are not producing.
I don't agree on Walter. He may or may not have something but based on his play in Oakland, there is no way to say one way or the other. He just never had a chance. I'm saying this having watched at least 5 of his starts. Seriously, he had no chance.
