Ok. If that's what you want to think, have a blast.

It's exactly like that.

Will do.

Amazing how somebody can't understand the difference between playing QB and playing DE in a 34.

Andrew Walter > Brad Johnson

If we get a chance to claim him or get him for like a 6th-7th rounder, I'd be all over that. Does he hold for PATs?

if I he can get the kind of protection that Tony Romo's getting from the OLine right now...Jordan Palmer is out there.

Oh good, an Andrew Walter thread. I brought his name up a while back.

I would gladly bring him in. Before the shoulder thing, he was a heckuva passer.

And what's up w/ Tampa? Are they still carrying 4qbs on their roster or did they place Simms on the injured list? That's another guy I wouldn't mind bringing in.

And not that I want the guy, but whatever happened to Rohan Davey? Is he still in the league, just curious.

I can't fathom not wanting a 3rd QB on the team when one of our QBs is Brad Johnson. Yet some wanted to keep 2 kickers. Screwed up thinking IMO. I'm talking about a low risk gamble that provides a little insurance. Sorry, Bartel?

Potential reward > potential risk.

Oh, and I would rather have McCown too, but I think this is the guy the Raiders will release.

If BJ has to ever start a game for us, we'll need to score on ST, on Def, and our running game will have to dominate. We'll basically need to be the Bears.

We are no where near as good on 2 of those categories. in other words, Brad Johnson starting a game = an automatic loss.

I'd rather have Henson than Johnson (.....ducks for cover).

You are crazy. Walter is a bum, has shown nothing in his career to deserve another look, while Brad Johnson is a veteran player who has quite clearly shown his ability to play in the league.

With Jamarcus Russell now signed to the Raiders it means they have 4 QBs and will probably be releasing one of them. My guess is it will be either Andrew Walter or Josh McCown. My money is on Walter being released.

Even though he went to ASU and I can't stand them, he's got some potential. He was in a no win situation in Oakland. No way to truly grow as a QB. I wouldn't mind him as a 3rd QB for this year and possible backup over Brad Johnson for down the road.

I'd really prefer to have McCown because he and his brother grew up as Cowboys fans, but I'm pretty sure he and Duante are going nowhere until Russell is ready.

I believe the Raiders have a roster exemption on Russell until the 24th. I read that somewhere. After that they have to reduce their roster by one player. It will be a QB.

Just a thought. I did like Matt Moore. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk.

I would rather them cut McCown...

This kids is from East Texas and they are very good football players. This is the third brother playing QB for a perennial powerhouse...

I've always thought Josh was the cream of the crop in that family. He has size and he is one tough sob. I don't think he has "starter" written on him, but he does have "I can spell you for a few games and get you in the playoffs" type QB. He reminds me a lot of Jason Garrett except he has a rifle arm...

This kid will be a coach in this league one day...

I don't think you can bring him in until the off-season.

Right now, you can't spend a roster spot on him because you don't know what he is. It is impossible evaluate him based on his play with the Raiders. The situation prohibits any real evaluation. So I think you bring him in to a training camp and use that time to evaluate him.

keep in mind that QB is the most important position on the team.
Romo, god love him, is one hit away from yielding to an immobile over the hill QB in Johnson.
Could anybody see Johnson leading the 'Boys?
McCowan or Walter (I'd take Walter) could, in several weeks be serviceable enough in an emergency.

And, believe me, having Johnson as QB would constitute an emergency.

At this time in their careers, Walter > Johnson. Johnson has one foot in the NFL graveyard. Nothing against the man, but his career is winding down. Age has caught up to him. Happens to everyone.....

If nothing else, there was some good discussion in this thread.

Unfortunately, that's why the Raiders will probably keep him over Walter. :( Al Davis isn't totally senile.....yet

I'd give the Raiders a late draft pick if it meant getting McCown over Walter. It would allow the Raiders to keep Walter (and not admit a mistake drafting him) and Culpepper could keep the seat warm while auditioning for his next team.

McCown showed me a lot of ability and guts a few years ago against the Cowboys when he was still in Arizona. He got the ^&%$ beat out of him and hung in there.

Playing for a quality team might do wonders for him.

I agree.

McCown is a guy who has actually shown talent, despite not having talent or competence around him. He's a gamer, even if he doesn't have the physical skills of Walter.

Walter would just be a waste of time and money. Even if he was released, there's no reason to look at this guy.

I actually can't fault the logic of this. A 6th or 7th rounder for him would be perfect.

What is this fascination with Walter? He had THREE touchdown passes last year with Randy Moss split out wide......THREE. Say that again...THREE. Johnson played for a terrible team last year as well and still managed to do better than that.
