I doubt that Dallas would try for Boldin because the Cardinals would probably want to talk about MBIII in return instead of a Draft pick. There has been some discussion of their wanting to cut Edge, but only if they find a suitable replacement.

I know that adding theory to speculation is a bad combo, but if that were the price then I would prefer to keep the MBIII and the Draft picks.

Where would the money come from to sign Boldin? Salary cap fantasyland.

With Larry Fitzgerald having completed his four-year, $40 million deal, Anquan Boldin now makes three to four times less annually than Fitzgerald.
We haven't seen Fitzgerald's salaries yet, but Boldin's is only $2.5 million in 2008. NFL Network's Adam Schefter believes the same teams that targeted Fitz in trades could now pursue Boldin. He hints at the Cowboys, Commanders, and Eagles as possibilities. Q would fit terrifically in a West Coast offense.

Settling for Boldin instead of a Roy Williams is like youse settling for Vanilla Ice when You could have had the Fat Boyz.
I don't like this settling for the less-expensive variety when you can have blue chippers like Roy Williams, Asante Samuels etc. We lost out on Samuels, but I sure hope we go after Roy.

This whole post is BULL****. I watched the segment in question and it makes absolutely NO MENTION of the Cardinals having any interest in trading Boldin or teams that maybe interested. That is a complete fabrication.

What the segment did say was that the Cardinals tried to re-do Boldin's contract in the middle of the season. Boldin declined, prefering to wait and see what they did with Fitzgerald's contract (assumingly to use those parameters as a starting to point for his own contract negotiation). What Schefter did say is that the problems that they had solved with Fitzgerald (by extending his deal) didn't disappear, per se, they were just shifted now to Anquan Boldin. It was also stressed by Schefter that AT NO POINT was there any consideration of trading Fitzgerald by the Cardinals. The Cardinals conceded that they were contacted by a handful of teams about Fitzgerald's availability, but were quickly turned away.

heh, but this is what fans do. speculate. it's fun sometimes but when so far based out of reality and into the madden zone, it gets old.

when you have no news, you make it up.

i would think it would depend on what he wanted. he's #2 behind fitz, but will he want fitz money? bouldin is a good WR but other than random fan speculation there's no verafiable source he's even on the block. just speculation that when people read it, it somehow becomes real.

Your aware Boldin had more yards and tds in 14 games in 06 then Roy Williams had in his BEST season? Roy has had one 1000 yard season, Boldin has 3 plus 2 100 catch seasons. Boldin is a better player IMO. Sorry if your a Texas fan. I'd like to have either, but this is a no contest to me. Roy is 2 inches bigger, which would be nice to have but Boldin is a great blocker, receiver and route runner.

Ridiculous...If the guy is only making 2.5 million this year and is under contract, and assuming the Cardinals actually hope to win games and compete for the playoffs, why the hell would they want to trade him?

Exactly. The argument that having 2 WRs of their caliber is a luxury that Whisenhunt's Pittsburgh Power Running Style (puke) doesn't require is bunk.

Teams with that kind of luxury take advantage of it.

Well we know that the Eagles refuse to trade their 1st round pick and the Giants have 30th overall so if we offer the 28th we would be the front runners. If the Giants then offer a player we could throw Ayodele in the mix. Then next year we sign Roy Williams and let T.O. take the Vet min or walk.

I would mos Def give up the 28th pick for Boldin, i would even throw in a bag of T.O's Popcorn to go with it..

Dude I love the Cowboys as much as anyone but check out Barber's second half stats as a starter. He needs some real help. I will be pissed if we pay #1 money to him. He is not a #1. I loved the play against the Pats but remember it was only a 2 yard gain and wasn't even a 1st down.
