A sign of life from this guy!

Also he had his guy completely outmatched on that jump ball.

Let's see more of this please. Don't just make him run these shorter routes. Let's get him down the middle of the field and let him go up and get a pass.

I've hated the pick since Pre-season but the 1 thing that has stood out about him is his hands. He catches everything.

That was a nice call and a great job by Tony and the offense of getting the ball snapped before the LB could run across the field and get into position. The Rams really screwed up by not calling a TO there with Witherspoon getting on the field late and Tony and the offense took advantage of it.

You cannot. Ask a mod to do it for you or just post a request in the thread. Generally someone will see it.

I am just happy we don't have to read any 'bust' post for a week.

and you'll see a lot more of it if the guy actually makes plays that not every TE in the NFL could just as easily make that didn't cost a 2nd rounder.

That was a really heads-up play by Tony. We scored later on that same play to Harris, too. It's a good route for us in that situation.

Escobar did a nice job out there. He is a rookie regardless of his draft selection. Cowboys like him, see a future with him and given him frame I think he will become bigger and stronger as time goes on. Others may have picked another player if it where their call to make but it is not our call to make. I may have gone a different direction but the pick was made and I support Escobar and look forward to seeing him improve over the course of his career.

I love the mismatches we can create on both sides. Putting Escobar on the opposite side of Dez near the end zone is smart. If they want to double or triple Dez there we can go to Esco like we did. He just needs to learn to stay in bounds on those fades and Tony can improve on putting them in a little better spot.

Catch17 you are right that dude's hands are like superglue

I was gonna post an opinion, cause I missed the game. But did I see the offense actually throw the ball down the seams twice and score a TD twice, once to Escobar and the other to Harris? What I deceived by a fantasy or it actually happened?

I'll take this even further and say can we please throw the ball downfield to everyone more?

Seems like we have the personel to be a very explosive passing offense, but we run short routes constantly.

Open it up already!

It actually happened and get this.... We got up to the line and didn't audible and wait for the playclock to role down to 1 the entire game.

That's where the mismatches are, on Escobar's TD he was going against a smaller LB, on Harris' TD he had a DB on him, and it was a great throw in a tight window. The whole middle of the field was open all game, and they finally threw the ball there.

Wow... I'm impressed by actual coaching changes that seem to recognize flaws in previous game plans...

Agreed, but the short passing game helps us chew up TOS - kinda like a successful running game. Besides, I don't think they'll open up the offense until Romo's ribs are right again. I think it was the Giants game (?) whereas Dez burned his man badly - and Romo under threw him. Shoulda been 6.

I think we'll take our shots downfield more often when Romo's ribs are feeling much better. JMO

College scouting report on Escobar:

Great hands; check
Huge catch radius: check
Adept at finding holes in zones: check
Matchup problem for smaller defenders: check
Cant block: check

So far he is everything the college scouts said he was. I only see him getting better and a nice red zone threat where they can always use help.

How the heck is Gavin Escobar adept at finding holes in zones in the NFL? When did this happen?

Gosh man the dude said so far. You really look for the worst and then say things in the most boorish way

How has he done that so far, is what I'm asking. He out ran a late arriving slow LB for a TD on a blown coverage. That's not adept at finding holes in zones.

Good point. Not sure Witten can get down the seam like he has in the past any more. We know what happens when we don't stretch the field.

Hey, it might have been an easy read, but he found the hole in the zone that play, lol.
