Our preseason strategy and how training camp is ran leads to these very out of sync opening games.

In what way did you think we were out of synch? I watched a lot of football this weekend, and thought the Cowboys were one of the better-prepared teams I'd seen, honestly. Our problems were solely related to turnovers, and those--with the possible exception of the Witten pick--weren't related to preparation in any way that I could see. That same game we played on Sunday could have happened in week 17, and we wouldn't have thought anything of it except that we were careless with the football.

Thanks guys.

I was hoping to see the Philadelphia fans side of their game.

You attacked the guy like he was a certain Patriot poster whom everyone here this is a jack wagon.

A Philly fan's side of their game is the verbal equivalent of vomiting on a kid in their own stadium as far as I'm concerned. And one who comes strolling over to make innocent statements like "I find it hard to believe that the Giants are THAT good or that the Cowboys are THAT bad..." deserves to be treated like the low-class fans that city prides itself on breeding.

Who knows, though. John_S said he'd be back, win or lose. Maybe he comes back with his tail tucked and ready for an actual discussion about the game this week. If so, he'll get a respectful discussion, I imagine.

But don't kid yourself. He's not not here yet because of how we treated him. He's not here yet because of how his Eagles messed themselves last night.

This is what happens when you don't play with emotion in the first half.

So, was it just the case that the Falcons were THAT good, do you think? Or were the Eagles THAT bad? I find it hard to believe the Eagles are THAT bad, but, well, I guess we'll see. It was probably just that emotion thing you mentioned earlier.

Now that Bryant is out for a month or so, who is going to be the primary receiver - Witten?
Were you impressed with the Cowboys running game?
Did the Cowboys play THAT poorly or were they sleep walking through the game, which often happens against supposedly inferior opponents? They shouldn't have been but MAYBE they were looking ahead to next week.
I find it hard to believe that the Giants are THAT good or that the Cowboys are THAT bad - but, I guess we will see.

I expect that Williams will be the primary deep threat and they'll rely on Witten and Beasley. I also think they'll use more and more of Dunbar and McFadden as receivers. Perhaps going with 21 personnel, then having Dunbar or McFadden line up out in the slot and give a 3 WR set look and then letting Romo choose whether to run or throw it.

I think the Giants are better on defense. Part of the issue for the Cowboys is that with the Giants blitzing, they were trying to hit quick hitting passes which they did....but, they couldn't break the tackles for big plays. The G-Man tackled very well. But, I don't see much of a pass rush and I think their LB coverage is a problem.

I think the Cowboys were a bit out of sync given that they hardly played in preseason. We also overthought their blitzing too much and that allowed them to set up their blitzes and coverage disguises. The Cowboys rarely look sharp in September. They may get some wins, but they usually don't hit their stride until November.

Lol give me a break emotion was not Philadelphia's issue.

Billy Davis is a God awful DC. Playing Maxwell one on one against Julio Jones was a recipe for disaster. Dude just can't handle top notch speed. He's a big, physical corner who you use in press man to man situations, but you don't have him shadow one of the quickest players in the National Football League.

Then explicably dropping your best pass rusher into coverage. Now all you're with is Fletcher Cox. Logan is predominately a run stuffer and a guy occupying space inside. They got a little better in the second half, but they should've known from the get go you can't put Maxwell on an island against one of the best players in the league and that Atlanta's tackles suck and that Barwin needs to be rushing the passer because he's a liability in coverage. They would've been fine with Kendricks and Alonso.

Terrance Williams will run Dez's routes for the most part, but I would expect that you'll see more of Gavin Escobar and Dunbar. I think Beasely is a match up issue for Philly with Boykins gone.

What you saw on Sunday from Dallas was a lot of their 2 minute offense and personnel, which is why Dunbar got so much work. The offense moved the ball pretty efficiently and the running game was just fine. The team was a little off in their timing on some routes and runs due to lack of a lot of live work together in the preseason. Dallas never even got to there real base offense in the second half for more than a drive or 2 because they were behind. Expect to see a lot more runs from Dallas in the second half just like last year if the game is close. Also if Romo's reads are dialed in on Philly's D like he was against the Giants D you better hope you get some pressure on him without blitzing, because he was reading it and adjusting better than I have ever seen him do so in the past.

While I think the Giants DL is less talented than Philly's Giants DL due to injury is a bunch of run stuffers and not pass rushers. The sheer fact they were using Jenkins at end shows that. I mean I bet Tyron was thinking really, this guy, he only comes forward oh and he has swim move that comes from 5 yards away.

Will Williams run Dez routes ? I was thinking that Street would run Dez routes and Williams would still run his normal routes. I havent heard anything reported.

From what they have shown in preseason, Williams plays the X when Dez is out, although I'm sure this is not a hard rule. I think the expectation from the staff is that any of the top 3 guys should know the X as well as they do the other spots so that they are not so obvious based on personnel. That doesn't mean that Williams will get the ball anymore since the defense is what dictates where Romo goes and I don't know if they will try to get Williams into single coverage like they intentionally try to do with Dez at times. The ball is going to go where the coverage says it should. I would expect them to use Brice and Street to stretch the safeties and have Williams, Beasely and Witten clean up underneath that. The question is really what happens when Philly goes 8 in the box and pinches the middle of the field? Romo is going to have to take a few deep shots to keep them honest, especially if the run game is struggling early against the solid D line Philly has.

Romo made bajillionaires out of Laurent Robinson, Miles Austin, and Sam Hurd. He doesn't need a primary receiver.

Week 1 is the actual preseason for everybody. Teams aren't who they really are until about Week 5.

That's the NFL. You're welcome.
