On day 1 it was reported that Bass was second team 3T and McClain was the 1.

Right. I think it's quite enough for Martin, a rookie, to learn/master the RG position after having played tackle. Now in OTAs and TC they're using him at center?

I'd rather him be a master of one trade instead a jack of all.

This is very good to hear. Hopefully he keeps working there and doing better. He actually did fairly well in the season finale considering things and he has the range for the scheme given his experience as a college safety.

If he does, it's really going to raise some questions about the talent we have on the DL and how good our DL will be this year.

Ronald Patrick was an OG, though he did backup at OC for a season in college, apparently. Reportedly, though, he's looked pretty good in a short time there in Dallas. He's a longshot who's at least getting his name mentioned early.

Returning starters normally get the 1st team reps for the first few days of camp. Guys don't normally lose their starting job until they've practiced in pads.

Well, we only had OTAs and minicamps to go on, so all we can do is speculate as to how the players compare. I'm not surprised Hayden started out TC in his old position. He earned it last year. We're going to be rotating everybody, anyway. We'll know by the first preseason game what the coaches are really thinking. And then we'll see over the course of the preseason if that bears out.

I still think it's a safe bet that Hayden isn't the starter when we're all said and done.

Considering that we're asking the man to polish a turd for the 2nd straight season I'm willing to allow him some creative license. The man does have solid credentials.
