A good chance for a trade back from 28

I'm pretty sure that 4qbs will be taken in the 1st round and that the Saints will want to draft one. If the Saints don't take one early I believe it creates a trade opportunity for Dallas. The Saints have pick 32 and I see a pretty good chance that teams will want to get in front of them to get a qb which will create a good trade market for the Cowboys. The Saints could very well trade up to 28 to prevent teams like the the 49ers and Bears from trading into the 28 spot.

What Im hopin for....Im usually a trade up guy and Ive certainly never wanted to trade down this bad, but it really is the year for it.....
It could work to their advantage. They could trade back to 32, 34, or 35 and get that extra pick that they need. The draft sets up well for what the Cowboys need.

I'm okay with the idea of trading back if the board isn't shaping up in our favor.

I could maybe see Cleveland sneaking back into the first round for a third pick with all they've got to work with. If I'm looking to make a deal to slide back a few spots I'm calling them.

Cleveland could very well be in the mix for a qb there. We will be able to see it as the draft unfolds. Dallas is in a good position.

I count 5 teams that might want to draft a qb at the back of the 1st round.
Pittsburgh has picks 30, 62, 94,105
New Orleans has picks 32, 42, 76, 103
Cleveland has picks 33, 52, 65, 108
San Francisco has picks 34, 66, 109
Chicago has picks 36, 67, 111, 117

I also think there is a good chance that Houston might take one of the qbs off the board at 25 and Kansas City might at 27. I've got 4qbs that should go with 7 teams that would want them.

I was thinking if we could get a lot for dropping down to something like 33 then I looked up the trade with the eagles for the first round to get Spencer
Spencer was selected 26th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2007 NFL Draft. After trading their first round selection to the Cleveland Browns, the Cowboys traded back into the first round to draft him. The Cowboys traded their 2007 second round pick (#36-Kevin Kolb), 2007 third round pick (#87-Stewart Bradley) and a 2007 fifth round pick (#159-C.J. Gaddis) to their conference rival Philadelphia Eagles, in exchange for their 1st round pick (26th overall).[7]

like ouch I think we got a bit of job on that one, but it was a little higher than our current pick and our second rounder was lower

I think that this draft sets up well for several teams to want that pick 28.

You never know!

Cant say that I see New Orleans or Pittsburgh taking a QB in the 1st....maybe later, but not in RD1.
The other wild card is if the teams that want QBs even like the ones that are left.
But yes, at least by mid-late 2nd round, 4 QBs could be taken.

Sounds like we'll need to be on our toes on draft day, as always.

To me, a trade back depends on what we get back in return. A very similar scenario occurred in 2014 when Seattle traded out of the 32nd spot, taking back Minnesota's 40th and 108 (4th rd). Minnesota then drafted Bridgewater.

So, Seattle dropped down 8 spots and picked up a high 4th rounder. I'm not so sure I'd like Dallas dropping down 8 spots and picking up only a high 4. And I definitely don't want Dallas dropping from 28 to mid second to pick up a late 3rd.

If Dallas can trade down 3-5 spots and pick up a 3rd rounder, I'd be okay with that. If somebody wants a QB with a 5th year option, they are going to have to pay.

New Orleans currently holds the last 1st round pick and is rumored to be interested in Manziel so, presumably they are in the market for a young QB to groom. A hypothetical trade down with them would keep us in the 1st (5th year option the team loves) and net an extra pick in the 3rd or 4th round.

It's not just New Orleans, it's the teams picking in top half of Round 2 who passed on a QB in the first round. In addition to the 5th year option, they want to make sure no other teams trade up and grab the QB they also want.

Scenario: The Cowboys are on the clock at 28, Forrest Lamp is still available. Minnesota wants him badly and calls and offers their #48 and #79.

Do you take it?

They'd need to throw in their 5th to even it out.

But it always depends on who else is there at 28...as you know
Maybe though

Fifth is a good point. That would even it out and the Vikings have two fourths to make that more comfortable.

yeah. Just the difference of trading down from 28 and 32 is an extra mid 4th rounder. That's just to start, not even counting the actual trade. So yes, you would get more starting at 28.

That Seattle trade you mentioned was really pretty close, draft chart wise. Is was 578 vs 590...so pretty reasonable.

But for us to drop all the way to 48, it'd take a lot.

If the Cowboys are getting 48, 79 and 160 I would probably take it. Unless a 1st Rd talent is there that the Cowboys need, I don't think there's a huge difference between 28 and 48 in this draft. Hell, there's a good chance the player at 79 isn't a 2 Rd difference either.
