to your point, look at philly...supposedly, "in cap hell." Howie Roseman came out yesterday on fire with a plan. Sign like 3 guys and traded for another. THATS what an aggressive GM should be doing. Not sitting on our hands as if we have accomplished something the previous year...I AM SICK OF THIS CRAP.

It happens to every team, they start losing players because they can't/won't pay to keep them. The differences are in how they replace them, draft, trade, FA and how successful they are in doing that. Seattle started losing defensive players, Philly has had to cut/lose players including their Superbowl winning QB, the Pats have cut/lost lots of players etc. Cap hell is a reality because teams can't afford to keep or sign everyone they want, it's not unique to the Cowboys. In fans minds though, they believe every player should take less money to play here and even with that our payroll would still be over $300 million to sign all the players we should have gotten.

you hit the nail on the head. Philly is one of those teams that understand when its time to make a move, or rid themselves of a guy. THEY GET IT. All the winning teams do. The teams that cling to players beyond their usefulness fail. Love Dlaw, but me starting to think the writing is on the wall. May be the right time to part with him and sell high if you will. Sign him to the tag, TRADE HIM. Hate it because he is a good guy, but his agent is dooming this entire process to failure. Just find a trade partner and get everything you can and move on.

The real trick is to do this 1 year early so you don't really need to use the franchise tag. It's harder to trade tank now that he is tagged but we can still try, but if we aren't signing Jones to an extension then trade him this year either for more picks before the draft or right before the deadline as teams gear up for the playoffs. The front office has to be willing to wheel an deal a bit, something that the Jonses are not good at or nobody wants to deal with them since they are so full of themselves.

I hate that year after year we don't sign anyone of significance, while others seeming never get bit by the cap. HOWEVER, Jerry doesn't seem to be going for broke to save The Clapping Carrot's job....and how can that ever be a bad thing.

How many coaching changes does Jerry have to make before people stop kidding themselves that the next coach he hires will be the solution.

Fire Garrett, keep Garrett, he's a symptom not the disease.

The Cowboys have been giving out a huge deal literally every year. But it's been for our own free agents because we've drafted well.

Nobody counts this spending. For some very odd reason. Meanwhile the Cowboys will use the 2nd week of free agency to plug holes so they can draft to a "clean board."

Now this relative recent change in philosophy hasn't produced a championship but its provided a level of consistency most of these organizations overpaying for shiny names would kill for.

So you know why the Browns have 100m in cap space? And the Dolphins are big spenders every offseason? It's because they haven't drafted and developed anyone worth paying consistently.

At different points over the last half decade we've made Dez a top paid wr. Smith a top paid Lt. Fred a top paid center. Martin a top paid Guard. We took care of Collins. Lee. Witten was always well compensated. So was Crawford (overpaid like most of the people getting paid this week). We're about to take care of Lawrence. We're going to take care of Jaylon then Byron then Zeke (sadly).

Who are all these teams that have all this homegrown talent who are perennial first week FA spenders?

How can we be happy about thinking Jerry isnt fully supporting his HC? Like what the heck are we doing then? Were wasting time.

Why is anyone surprised by this FO office? It’s proven over time to be a lazy, big talk, no walk FO. What pressure are they under? What’s pushing these guys to reach for excellence? Win or lose, they make billions. They can plan boxing matches and concerts while sipping mai tais in the Bahamas while other FOs from other teams are working hard to get better. Why is anyone surprised?

I have to agree.

Teams like the Skins, Eagles didn’t have much cap space. Yet still signing players

Yes, the Skins process of signing free agents is a process every team should follow...

I've heard the Patriots tried to hire the Skins GM and their entire personnel department.

Robert Kraft even tried to get Danny Snyder to make all ownership type decisions for him.

Philly has a plan, they stick to it, every year and aren't afraid to make big moves. Complete opposite of what this team is.
Ray, I’m certain that Dallas has a very detailed plan
We may not like it, but they definitely have a plan.
