The deadskins lost because their kicker missed a very important field goal. That would have changed the entire complexion of the game had Hall made that kick.

Note to JJ, get your kicker in here first!!!

I look at that game, and it makes me sad to know that 2 things could've cost us the SB this year. A kicker and Flozell... Ouch.

But thank God the deadskins lose. Doesn't matter how far you go if you don't end up with the Trophy.

So if we sign a kicker, he'll never miss a 36-yard field goal?

Then it's Adam Vinatieri or bust, because everyone else misses in crunch time once in a while.

I would be happy if we had a kicker that only missed once in a while crunch time or not.

Couldn't agree more. We lost at least 3 games because of horrible kicking. And I"m not talking about missing fifty yarders. We lost 3 games because of 30 yard field goals being missed. We could have had home field advantage in the playoffs instead of missing the playoffs entirely had it not been for our horrible kicking game. Now think about that. Home field advantage for the playoffs vs NOT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS.
Get a damn kicker in here. Vineteri and Vanderjact are both FA's. Pay the money and bring one in here.
Games are too tight in the NFL now not to have a great kicker.

Man, when Vinatieri kicked that 2nd FG... it looked like it was shot out of a canon... no sway to left or right... no fade, no draw no pull - no bull

gotta get us one of dem

John Hall had the same M.O. w/the Jets. He makes the long ones and misses the easy ones. I'm not surprised he missed from 36 yards.

It's just amazing how a kicker is so important in todays parity league. It didn't used to be that way, but it's just amazing how so many games are a play or 2 away from a win or loss.

I just don't want it to come down to that for us next year.

It's a brave new world for kickers. In the age of parity, kickers are becoming more important because there are more closer games that depend on a kicker who can deliver in the cluch. That's hard enough to do, can you imagine how it must shatter your concentration with Larry Allen or someone venting his frustration and trying to tear your head off? It's time to get a skilled professional, pay him well and RESPECT HIM.

It never ceases to amaze me how many college educated people think you can improve a kicker's results by bullying, badgering, cajoling and threatening him until he becomes a nervous puddle of fear, uncertainty and doubt that is prone to flinching and has deep circles around his eyes.

I think place kickers generally have a different mentality than typical football players. Some psych Ph. D. candidate needs to do a study on the different kinds of psyches of the people playing the different positions in football.

It's time to quit trying to save money on a cheap kicker and get someone you can depend on and pay them right and treat them right. I get the impression BP sees them as little wimps and despises them. What kind of example does that set for the tream? Big Bill or somebody up there needs to see the light.

No its not. How many games did we lose cause our kickers misses. 2 or 3. Now out of those games we lost, how many would we have won if we just scored 1 more TD. all of em. The Oline again is your culprit. If Beldsoe had time to pick em apart a kickers not beeded at all. How many drives stalled cause we had penalties or no run blocking and had to settle for a FG try. Again a more potent offense would alleviate the dire need on a kicker and make it a modest need.

I will admit we need a kicker, but not in the first round. You need a stud Olinemen. especially since none are projected in the first round. why reach and not get a stud Olinemen so you have a kicker that will still miss 10-15% of his kicks at the best of times.

I dont think there is any doubt we sign a proven vet kicker.

Or that he will miss a kick here and there and get dog cussed on forums.
We all thought Cundiff sucked when he was hitting 95% inside 40 until we saw what real suckage was this year when he hit 70% inside 40, lol.

My money is on Vinatieri.
