A Look at the Current Depth Chart

No reservations at all.

Why is that? Is there something to this? Are the Cowboys comfortable with him without seeing much, if anything at all, from him last year? Or are you just comfortable because of his physical ability, and hope to see it finally translated?

I'm not terribly concerned...mostly due to the signing of Conner, but I haven't seen jack from Carter that makes me think he deserves a starting role.

Was talking to a guy recently who said Carter's speed is coming back and hsi rehab, with input and training from Woicik is ahead of schedule. Rob Ryan plays every player who is dressed, so Connor and he and Lee are all going to rotate at times to stay fresh, but he is the one guy they expect to turn loose. I believe with Brooking and James gone Spencer focuses more on pass pressure and our Defense improves drastically. Much of that will be due to Carter's coverage ability and sideline to sideline speed.

Fair enough. Sounds good if true. Hope he sees the light.

I was told he may be the fastest LB we've ever had here and that includes Coakley and Darren Smith.

Most places don't have Konz rated that low..

Lots of teams also need centers..Konz won't fall past 33..Indy will Definitely take him..he won't even be there at 33
Same kinds of analysis I've hard about Stephen Jackson, Jason Witten, Brady Quinn and a host of other players in my life.

Not saying its impossible..but it's not likely.. Sure, anything can happen.. I'm not counting on a miracle

What's your backup plan if we take Decastro at 14 and Konz is gone at 45?

Phillip Blake in the 3rd or Bernadeau at Center.

Center is the weakest. First draft choice should be a starter-Konz in a trade back

that's a flawed approach to the draft

No, it's not.. Konz is worth a 1st rd pick.. Assuming we move back

"Center is our weakest position so we should draft a center in the first round" is absolutely a flawed approach.

Well that's pretty impressive because those guys could fly. We could definitely use that infusion of speed at LB. That weakness was exploited last year - especially by Philly in that 1st game.

If its in the right place in the draft, why? At 14th, it is not worthwhile, but later in the first it makes sense from a value and need perspective.

C is the most glaring need, but no value there with the 14th pick. DeCastro is a luxury. Cowboys have 2 newly signed vets and 2 promising 2nd year players at the Guard spot.

If Cowboys take a Guard in draft, it will be in the 3rd or later. Even a 2nd is a little too early.

And those that are comfortable with the D must have have ignored last season. Every player from that underachieving unit is returning with the exception of Newman and Elam. The front 7 is where it starts and end on D, and it needs some serious upgrade.

I can't tell you how much I disagree with your post, but at the same time know the team agrees with you. I believe Brockers is going to be our pick. He shouldn't be, but probably will be.

I believe he will be as well.

I also believe Konz will be there in the 2nd, but early 2nd.

I would use our 2nd along with a 4th and 5th, if need be, to move up closer to the 1st to get Konz or a Nick Perry.

In no way am I saying we shouldn't draft a center in the 1st.
