A number of 1st/2nd round picks were active on Sunday except Trysten Hill

I swear you people will never learn your lesson on counting out rookies and other young players too early.

Eventually you'll be right on a player... But my God do you look stupid along the way.

I think there's a difference between being a reliable starter right out the gate and showing any signs of anything against anyone. Fans tend to think a rookie will come in and make an immediate impact. Though that's happened quite often as of recent for us (Martin, Zeke, Dak, LVE) it's not something you should rely on. I haven't paid attention to Hill but it sounds like people are concerned that he hasn't shown a glimpse of anything even against practice squad guys.

Jesus christ this is such a stupid statement...absolutely as stupid as stuff gets on here. The stuff you guys say man...Dude was always a project from the moment we drafted him, not like he was a top 5 pick or something man.

Then why are other teams starting? You don't draft projects in the first and Second rounds unless they have to rehab.

I didn't look at players past Hill to see which ones were injured.

2019 Draft Picks rounds 1 to 3 that didn't play in game 1:
11 CIN Jonah Williams
15 WAS Dwayne Haskins
19 TEN Jeffery Simmons
23 HOU Tytus Howard
29 SEA L.J. Collier
32 NWE N'Keal Harry
37 CAR Greg Little
42 DEN Drew Lock
45 NWE Joejuan Williams
58 DAL Trysten Hill

67 SFO Jalen Hurd
68 NYJ Jachai Polite
69 JAX Josh Oliver
71 DEN Dre'mont Jones
75 GNB Jace Sternberger
79 LAR David Long
80 CLE Sione Takitaki
82 TEN Nate Davis
83 PIT Justin Layne
84 KAN Khalen Saunders
85 BAL Jaylon Ferguson

87 NWE Damien Harris
90 DAL Connor McGovern
92 NYJ Chuma Edoga
97 LAR Bobby Evans
100 CAR Will Grier

The first one you listed (Jonah Williams) had shoulder surgery in July and was put on their PUP list August 31st. Jeffrey Simmons tore his ACL in February and was also placed on the reserve/non-football injury list August 31st. Didn't look after that, maybe I am miss-reading what you mean above.

Juan Thornhill started and played well.

They nailed the LVE pick, but they absolutely blew the Taco one, and T.Hill looks like another miss.

I watched Redzone so I did not notice Thornhill's play. The stats say he had 8 tackles. What else did he do to stand out? KC defense stunk as a unit. Foles lit them up for a TD and then got hurt. Some rookie QB nobody ever heard of came in and lit up the Chief's defense for a good amount of yardage.

My original post is below (in blue).

Notice where I specifically said T.Howard, Greg Little and LJ Collier were inactive.

I specifically mentioned them because they were players NOT on IR but that were inactive.

I did NOT list players like Jonah Williams as inactive in the description above the list because he is on IR.

Tytus Howard practiced all week but was inactive.

Greg Little & LJ Collier were inactive. I didn't look up their practice status.

I didn't look at players past Hill to see which ones were injured.

Ok? The coach shut him down due to the finger injury.

It's straight from Bill O'Brien.

Now if you want to debate if it was the finger or his talent, go ahead. But he was the penciled in starter so I believe they were erring on caution with his health.

The Cowboys young LB Gifford broke his finger and missed 1 day of practice. Howard didn't miss any practice according the the injury report.

The Titans drafted DT Simmons knowing he wouldn't play due to a knee injury.

The Cowboys drafted Hill knowing that he was raw as a football player but had 1st round type size/measurable(s).

There were 2 (two) DT drafted after the 1st round that were active for game 1.

Yeah I figured after those two I miss-read that. The last line threw me off. Thanks for the clarification my friend.

Cooper - Hit
Hill - Inactive. Immature reach. Reeks of bust.
McGovern - Injured
Pollard - Ok, he's awesome.
M. Jackson - Couldn't make the team
J.Jackson - Still here. Looks decent.
Wilson - Preseason star. We'll see.
Weber - Didn't stick
Jelks - See Weber

I'm not that impressed by that group to be honest.

It was a special teams draft.

Yes, I probably didn't make it clear.

I started to put the status next to each player on the list but that seemed like overkill.

Thornhill plays the same position as Xavier Woods.

Woods was the Star of training camp on the defensive side of the ball.

If Thornhill had been graded ONLY as a Strong Safety, he would not have been a 2nd round pick.

Thornhill is closer to a CB than a SS and some teams had him on their draft board as a CB according to reports.

It was so blatantly obvious to everyone except Marinelli to take one of those stud safeties.

Didn't Hill have a third or fourth round grade on him?

The draft media had a 4th round "grade" on Travis Frederick...

Yeah X, not buying that at all. Thornhill can play either spot.

And "Star of camp" wins you nothing.

I'll simplify for you:
Thornhill > Heath

Thornhill possibly > Woods

Thornhill absolutely > Trysten Hill
