Does anyone think that his pricetag, when it comes time to resign him, goes down because he hasnt made the pro bowl yet? Agents love to use Pro Bowls when comparing two players (right or wrong). They want to get the best contract, and they use the fact that their player has made it X amount of times, and another player got a certain contract after making it that many times.

The truth of the matter is, Newman IS a pro bowl caliber player. I wonder how many other teams recognize this.

The last thing I want to see is that fine young man undercut on his next contract because he hasn't been given a few free tickets to a meaningless game in Hawaii.

Luckily, tho, Jerry would never do that.

And if Bill's still around, he will have his say.

I am all for giving the man what he deserves. But we cannot control what other teams offer. If another team identifies him as clearly the best corner in the game (not saying that is what he is, or what I think, but some organizations are weird), they might offer him a ridic contract (above market value). Also, in this era of inflated cap space, I think GMs are having a hard time realizing what a dollar is worth nowadays. A $2 million dollar player from 3-5 years ago is now a $4 million dollar player. Just hoping Jerry is with the current economic times.

Newman is due top dollar regardless of superficial accalaids, he will be a four or five million a year player for certain along with a 15 or 20 million signing bonus. Basically the 35 million over seven years that Deion received back in 1995 would be a bargain signing for Newman today.

I can't believe we are talking about players making these salaries in today's game.

I'd hate to see players risk injury for a meaningless exhibition game, so I'll never be upset if a Cowboy gets snubbed from the PB.

It doesn't affect Newman's value at all. The collective people responsible for deciding a player's market value, general managers/personnel departments and coaches, don't vote in Pro Bowls. And given how few times opposing coaches throw in Newman's direction, they obviously think quite highly of him.

I prefer to the think the positive out of this snub is that he will play lights out by intercepting every pass thrown near him for the rest of the season.

:D :D :D

Aren't there a few slots still open for coach's selections.

Was reading one of the Giants board and while they were all upset (jealous?) about Romo's selection for the pro bowl, to a man they all thought it was ridiculous that Newman didn't make the pro bowl. They couldn't understand how anybody else (Hall's name was mentioned) was selected over Newman. Just thought I'd mention that even Giants fans know a good player when they see him.

The problem is even if he keeps being a shut down corner for his entire career, the Hall of Fame members will hold this against him.

Never known JJ to be unfair when negotiating a contract. Pro Bowl or no Pro Bowl, Newman will get a fair deal.

Dude Terence Newman will be the top free agent DB when his contract is up, you don't want to get into a bidding war for this guy. Jerry Jones would be wise to sign him before free agency just like he did with Roy Williams...

how is Tnew snubbed?? you guys need to quit being homers, there are plenty of other CBs in the NFC doing being than him. I can name a few, Charles Woodson (very underated CB), Tillman (way better stats than Newman and has been more productive), Walt Harris (this guy was snubbed badly, hes arguably top 5 CBs in the NFL this season and he's only a Pro Bowl alternate)

Another in the long line of people who wake up Monday morning look at the stats in the paper w/o watching a lick of football and think they know who should be in the probowl. Brilliant.

Well I ran the stats for this year for both players

Year Team G Total Tkl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def

2006 Atlanta Falcons 14 54 47.0 7 0 4 131 32.8 60 1 10

2006 Dallas Cowboys 14 58 48.0 10 0 1 12 12.0 12 0 10

Hall has 3 INT't to Newman's 1. They look for that right?

Newman has more tackles and sacks.

Career-wise: Hall has 12 INT's in one less season than TNew(I know season aint over, but so far) so they are probably giving his rep a little advantage of Newman

JJ: "So what will it be Deion? 15? 20 Million?"

Deion: "Both"

:lmao2: I loved that commercial.
