A quick Cowboys state of the union....

Drew Henson is no longer a Cowboy.
Bill Parcells made the annnouncement and now regardless of details Henson won't be back in a locker at Valley Ranch.

Henson has neither done anything to deserve vitriole or showed anything(on the pro level) to merit crocodile tears at his ended tenure.

I wish him the best elsewhere provided it isn't against us.

TO is out again and playing at all this pre-season is in doubt. Parcells is not gonna play him until he practices and shows something so this tete a tete could bear watching. In the long run it may not mean much but BP has a lot less patience than other coaches and a mouthy TO could end up on the pine longer than he ever imagined.

Dallas was able to obtain a second day pick for Shanle reportedly as high as a 4th or as low as a 7th. That's a nice move for the Boys who like Shanle but had no room for him with the talent in front of him on the roster. Shanle gets to go play for Sean Payton and his old position coach, Gary Gibbs, so should find plenty of playing time.

Hopefully the media, except perhaps the silly Peter King, will hush all the Romo to start chatter. Parcells is fairly transparent on these things and he brought Bledsoe here to be his starter, We'll know Bledsoe is not the guy when he is no longer here.

The Cowboys are going to end up cutting some draft picks but that doesn't mean the drafting has gone south, merely denotes how much better this team has gotten. 5 or 6 guys the Boys cut will land regular NFL jobs on lesser teams. Thats a huge leap from the way we used to inherit other teams cuts only 3 years ago.

Among the rookies who will definitely stick are Pat Watkins who has the starting Free Safety role squarely in his sights, Pat McQuistan who has earned a backup OT gig and the three first day picks: Bobby Carpenter second team at ILB, Anthony Fasono first team as second TE, Jason Hatcher second team pass rushing DE. After that guys like Skyler Green and Montavious Stanley may see spots on the practice squad or other teams regular units.

It is easy to overrate your own team, especially before the season starts but folks are having a hard time not noticing the Dallas passing attack and the defense. TO hammy aside, this team has been fairly healthy and look poised to compete for the NFC East crown and then some.
