the basic argument seems to be that there are 31 guys who choke every year. or at least if romo is a choke artist until he wins a lombardi then surely the same argument applied to warner, rivers, the mannings, brees etc last year as they didn't win it all. romo's record in december and the playoffs is poor through a combination of factors directly in his control ie interceptions, fumbles, THAT field goal drop and factors outwith his control ie poor defensive play, dropped catches, poor o-line play. or in other words when the team play well and win in september its not all down to romo though he plays a big part in it the same as when the team plays poorly and loses in december though romo may take some blame it is not entirely down to him.

Ben is better than Romo will ever be. His "defense" got shredded by the Cardinals and he led a game winning touchdown drive. You Romo defenders kill me.

Did Romo insult your momma or something? Romo is better than all but a few QBs in the NFL. If Crayton and Fasano caught those balls in the playoffs (great passes by Romo), and Romo took us to the SB would you still be so negative about him? Watch the games and show some ability to decipher what is poor QB play and what is crappy blocking and receiving. Romo has flaws like EVERY QB that has ever played the game, but he is better than most.

So I'm discrediting Romo by saying Ben is obviously better than he is? Oh lord. He does have flaws like every qb, but he is not better than Big Ben.

Unfortunately, thats the nature of the beast.

What gets me about the "Romo apologists" is their willingness
to cling to the idea that fans are questioning Romo's ABILITY!
Its like they're arguing apples & oranges- since no credible fan
is arguing whether Romo is CAPABLE of winning a ring.
That' d be like arguing that Dan Marino wasn't a great QB, since he
didn't get a ring. In other words- totally beside the point.
Worse yet, they'd rather start putting down other winning QB's,
& discrediting their accomplishment- almost as a way of downplaying
a SB's importance.
Thats a typical LOSER'S mentality: "He hasn't won one, but so what?
He's still better than all those other guys"!

OK- & thats relevant because............

Romo, not unlike Marino, has good/great stats at this stage in
his career. Will he get his ring?
Maybe....maybe not.
Either way, he will continue to be judged by fans & the media based
on winning a SB.

THATS the reality- the ultimate clincher is "did he win a SB"?

I'm banking on him winning one eventually- lets hope it happens.

Ben vs Romo. Romo has been clearly better in the regular season. Ben in post season. BUT then remember the first SB with Ben? Set an all time record for lousy QB rating. If they had lost that game he would have been the goat big time. Now in the last SB he certainly was a lot better and made plays when it mattered.

Romo has had only 2 playoff games. Why ANYONE blames Romo for the bobbled hold when the NFL changed the whole criteria for balls AFTER that game is beyond me- they want to blame Romo and are just looking for an excuse.

As was pointed out ad nauseum, Fasano and Crayton and otthers had a WHOLE lot more to do with losing that NYG game then romo did.

Now I will say that he certainly has not played as well in December and beyond.

No. It's the "Ben is better than Romo ever will be" nonsense. If you've watched these players, there is not some huge gap between them. Romo has put up better numbers while Ben has the rings. The first ring had little to do with him. He was awful. The D and the refs got that one for him. He did a nice job against the awful Cards D in this SB, as did most QBs all year. I think Ben is very good, but to say he's better than Romo ever will be is ridiculous at this point.

Why is it that things have to be so black and white? Do some of you even read what you are writing?

If a QB hasn't won the SB, then he's a choke artist?

Fine. That may, in fact, be the popular perception, but in this instance, perception is definately not reality. Instead, what we have here is an "all or nothing" slant, likely from the media, on the QB position which has, unfortunately, become popular in a society all to eager to assign labels to everything.

Well, to he honest, I think that position is weak because it's easy...and it's lazy. No thought whatsoever goes into it, no consideration of other factors, no discussion, not even a pause to remember that this is, after all, a team sport.

I've said it before. Folks who begrudge Eli's performance in the SB winning year are just sucking sour grapes - he was outstanding in the playoffs that year and led game winning drives at the end of 3 of the 4 games.

I hate Eli, but to act like he was lucky is just 100% ignorant.

I disagree. The pass right before (or close to) the miracle catch slipped through Asante Samuel's hands. That interception would have ended the game. That was pretty lucky.

Not to mention the helmet catch itself.

As a result I would say that acting like he was lucky is only about 85% ignorant.

;)
