that has not gotten a lot of attention:

A weak link on this team that has gone unaddressed so far and
cost the team dearly against the New England Patriots and Divison Championship game against the Giants is:

Left Offensive Guard: Kyle Kosier.

Kosier got blown up on several plays last year which cost this team.
Some may argue that he is good enough, but I would argue that
with a QB that is 6-2 it is essential the blocking up the middle be sured up.

When a running play got hit for a loss, more often than not it was Kosier's
man up the middle. His tackling a linebacker on 4th down against the Patriots changed the momentum in the game. Romo had to pull down and take a sack when Miles was running wide open in the divisonal game because of pressure up the middle on Kosier's side.

I realize we can't have Pro-bowlers across the front, but I hope Dallas gets the next best OL man on the field. For example, give McQuistan a shot this year. It's a move that was discussed but not fulfilled last year.

Kosier is avg. to below avg. He is backup material and not starting material.
This will be crucial move this up coming camp.

Looking ahead, Duke Robinson would be a late 1st round pick that would solidify the guard position for years if we can't upgrade from within.

Kosier's solid and rarely gets blown up. He's definitely not below average. Not sure why we didn't bring in one of the two UDFA guards, though (Felton or Young). And the only guard worth a pick in the draft went before our 1st pick.

Cory Procter may give him a run for his money as well.

We have been developing that guy for quite awhile now and he has looked solid in his limited action.

He also beat out a 3rd round pick, Stephen Peterman, that started last year for the Lions.

6'4 305 pounds and 25 years old.

I think that will be a battle to watch in camp.

Based on his one game filling in for Gurode last year, I'd say there's very little chance he comes close to beating out Kosier.

Just glad we kept Flo in his spot beside him.............w/o him we'd really have questions.......

McQuistan, Free, Marten, Proctor Kosier..........may the best man win
this is not outcome based education in the NFL............its survival......

Ahh, Kosiers looks like he's on skates at times. He gets pushed around often.

Kosier is little small and soft...Well maybe not soft, but he seems underpowered. Get a bigger body in there.

If solid means average, you are correct.

He isn't great, hopefully one of the youngsters step up. I figure they will, heck we have been developing them for years now, they better do something. Seems like one of them could do something....hopefully.

When I read the title, I figured it was about a WR.....but I guess some like to be different for a little suprise factor.

You know that average means better than half the guys starting at OG in the league right now, right?

I think Kosier is a solid player, but I'm surprised we didn't try and find some big body to put in there. Kosier would be a better fit elsewhere IMO....although I certainly wouldn't call LG a "hole".

It could be improved though.

Our line, as a whole, did not excel at run blocking. We all talk about how powerful and mean Columbo is, but I saw him get turned and let defenders stop the RB for very little or no gain too. I'm putting my hopes on Hudson Houck to teach these guys better technique more than anything else.

Of course I want the best players we have to start, but they need to be taught better too.

Kosier isn't as bad as you portray. While not spectacular or flashy he is a solid starter and good enough to win a Super Bowl with. I wouldn't call it a hole or especially a "serious" hole at all.

Saying he is solid is an overstatement.
I wouldn't say he gets blown up on every play but it's a couple of plays every
game.
IMO

Serious hole may not have been the right phrase, I agree.
Serious concern?

I wouldn't say he is "solid" at all. Slightly below average, IMO

With the expectations we have this year and a 6-2 QB it's a weak link
that will get exposed in the playoffs. He is not good enough to win a Superbowl with and it showed last year.

(Sorry, don't want to get caught in defending my thread as much as discuss it)

Regardless of whether you think he's below average or not (I don't), we can all pretty much agree that he's playing the role of one of the two weakest positions on our offense....and considering that he's not that bad in most people's opinion, I'd say that's a pretty sweet problem to have.

I wouldn't say it's a serious hole if a hole at all. we can't have top players at every position. I see 3 serious holes and 2 are if injury were to happen.

#3 if DWare gets hurt we are in trouble getting pressure on the qb

#2 if T.O. gets hurt our offensive production gets cut in half at the least.

#1 our strong safety whenever he's on the field.

Kosier's not a hole in any way, shape, or form. We did hear some rumblings that the team wouldn't mind seeing McQuistan push him for his position last year, though, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a more serious challenge this year.
