A thought about TO's work ethic

I heard reference today about the WR's lack of work ethic in the Roy Williams story. He mentioned how in Detriot the WR's would run after every play and block downfield.

Many things have been written on how hard TO practices. Also how Rice was his first learning experience on how a true pro practices hard everytime out. I have heard how the younger WR's can learn from TO by watching him in practice.

So my thought was how is TO practicing so hard?

1) According to Roy E Williams they dont follow through run blocking during practice.
2) Here is my biggest question, if TO practices so hard how come he doesnt run routes better? What could he have learned from Jerry Rice that did not include precise route running? That to me is the working hard part of practice, is it not? You run the routes until your wheels come off.
3) What are you doing in practice if you are a WR and you dont run crisp routes?
4) What example is he for the younger WR's? Crayton seems to act like Fredex and I wonder if this impacts Hurd, Austin, and Stanback?

It just doesnt add up.

1. Cant nail TO for this one. In the game he blocks for his team mates. PLENTY of examples. NEXT!

2. Who said he doesnt run routes right? Commentators and former players that dont know the play. NEXT!

3. He is running the route correctly enough to make most of his catches. NEXT!

4. Last year the WR's named TO the "the WR Godfather" for his tutelage. SO. NEXT!

TO's work ethic being 2nd to none but being a team cancer doesn't make any sense. TO and Zach Thomas made everybody around them better.

1)True

2)False--to run a correct route one must run it to the end...he gives up on routes..

3) how do you know ? ...maybe its improvised by the QB ,hard to say cause like you said ......no one knows the play ..and i wouldnt say he catches most of the passes thrown his way....maybe half

4)as for the "The WR Godfather" tutelage......should we praise him forteaching these guys this crap?......running the mouth, complaining of roles and game plans, poor rout running, and throwing coaches under bus........NEXT

1. Where are the examples plentiful? #11 questions why they dont work on blocking harder in practice. Next!
2. Watch the way he runs routes and you can see isnt a great route runner. Thought that idea was accepted by all who understand football 101. Next!
3. Rewatch some games from last year if you have them taped. You can see TO run half arsed routes, especially if the ball doesnt come to him. Next!
4. Wonder why their production doesnt match their admiration? Next!
5. Comments from the peanut gallery? Next!

1. I am not digging for the examples of plentiful. But if you "rewatch" the games as you have told me to do.... AND kept your eyes open when TO was on the screen. YOU WOULD see it.

I thank you.

IF you wanted to... you could nail ALOT of WR's for 2 and 3.

#4 - His production was Tony for a few reason. Romo missed 3 games. The WHOLE offense wasnt producing. Take off your blinders.

5. I like almonds.

NEXT!

"I know... I can't hold... the hate... inside my mind
'Cause what consumes your thoughts.... controls your life
So I'll just ask a question
What if?
What if TO's actions........ were a crime? "

A story of T.O's toughness.

I broke my left fibula on December 19th, slipped my whole foot sideways and had to reduce it myself in the woods. Same exact day, five years ago, Roy Williams horse collars Owens in Philly and does a similar spiral fracture to Owens' right fibula.

I didn't require surgery, my bone alligned back well, and today Super Bowl Sunday - I'm able to walk partially with one crutch. I've done hours of therapy daily, taken countless supplements, and prior to the injury I was in the best shape of my life.

Owens, snapped his bone directly in the middle, had surgery with a plate and screws put in - and two weeks before the Super Bowl he was able to run.

He played that Sunday and balled out of his mind, had to be going through agonizing pain, and carried his team. No way he was near 70% for that game, and he was playing through pain none of us could imagine.

I want guys like that on my team, even if they only do it for themselves.

Yep.

Only thing is.... while doing it for himself... maybe we win.

:lmao: Keep drinking the cool aid guy.

Facts to consider while you are heaping praise on TO

1. He's already destroyed the team chemistry with 2 NFL teams.

2. He's a whiner/complainer/attention seeking headcase.

3. He's fast approaching the tail end of a controversial career.

4. We still have not won a playoff game since bringing him in as the supposedly missing ingredient.

I hope JJ is not foolish enough to keep him around. I for one never wanted him here for the above reasons. NEXT indeed...

1. Yet more than half of his former team mates said they would want him on their team. Fact.

2. He wants the ball - so what - he wants to win - he wants the Cowboys to win.

3. "Controversial career" - so what - he is not the first.

4a.) We lost 1st playoff game for many reasons. While its popular to blame Bill and/or Romo (which I wont) TO was not the reason.
4 b.) Patrick Crayton

What else ya got? Hope that wasnt it. Weak arse meat.

Yes, another Aikman homer. Let's bring him out of retirement and let's bring the "white house" along with his era too. GREAT for team chemistry and helping to play better on Sundays and win Super Bowls.

Aikman Homer?:lmao: I think not, but I am definitely more interested in what a three time SB winning, six pro bowl, HF QB has to say rather than what you have to say. I think he might know a tad bit more.

Call me crazy.

Staubach joined Aikman this week saying Landry would have never brought him Dallas.

The guy can play, but his issue of going on TV and calling out people must not be accepted. He cannot be the focus of this offense and he cannot break bump n run coverage, so the complaining will be accompanied by further diminshing skills.

The experiment is over and the TEAM needs to move in another direction.

The same thoughts crossed my mind. But I am comforted by knowing that if they use his strengths then we'll win.

Let's also include this fact from a former team while we're at it.

Wherever he goes, players will gravitate to Owens. That's a fact which no one can deny. He is one of the most charismatic players to ever play in the National Football League. That isn't the issue.

The issue is whether or not he negatively affects the inner chemistry of a franchise and to what degree. If personal popularity were his strongest asset, he would still be a 49er. At the very least, he should still be an Eagle, who may have won a Super Bowl by now. It has not been. So the question becomes how it has suddenly become his strongest asset when it failed him elsewhere and he has not changed his personality one bit?
