I'm glad he finally noticed. The rest of your post was good info as well. Wad's job and our success depend on him looking towards the offense a little more this year, hopefully he can instill some balance to Garrett's schemes despite Wad's strength being more defense...

A good defense of coach knows the importance of controlling the clock and keeping the opposing defense on the field while his is resting on the sidelines.

Your offense is predicated and designed for the big play, your QB's style is for the big play,as long as tony romo is your QB you will not be able to methodically drive down the field on a consistent enough basis to win games..Romo is a homerun hitter, its outta the park or strikeout..My point you can't change what you have at QB,garrett knows that so dont expect to much difference in your offense this year...
Our offense was predicated on highlighting Terrell Owens as our big play receiver. He is no longer on the team. There will be a difference in the offense this season, one which you, in particular, will probably not enjoy.

Dude your QB's style i mean who he is,is to make the big play..If you think for 1 minute that romo is a traditional drop back pick you apart QB,you haven't been watching him close enough..You don't want romo back there thinking to much,he is better at reacting in chaotic situations..in closing i know you cowboy fans are thinking your running game will be much in improved this year to help romo, but your oline as it is currently has not showed any signs it can run block consistently at all..I dont care if you have adrian peterson back there it won't matter..

I expect to see a huge change in offense. Tony likes to take chances but what does that have to do with him handing off the ball? We have a big possession WR and two good tight ends. If you ask me we are more suited for methodical drives than big plays with the exception of felix.

Obviously, the time which you have paid attention to the Cowboys offense has been minimal, at best. Given enough protection, Romo has been a very good (not great, but very good) pocket passer. He reads defenses well. It has been whenever the protection has broken down when he's either forced passes or held the ball too long resulting in turnovers. Are you certain that you're projecting Jason Campbell onto Romo instead? If so, stop it. Now.

No im not confused with my qb JC,romo's ability and has been conditioned to make the big play..The big play is what got him where he is,it will be very difficult to beat that out of him..can he change maybe, but he knows what he does best..Plus who says your run blocking will be good enough to rely on?barber felix choice means nothing if the cats up front ain't moving nobody..NOTHING!!

I noticed Phillips in between fist-pounding yesterday declared we have to become a better running team and in fact, be a top ten running team.

So what does that mean exactly? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that successful teams tend to be able to run the football better. It minimizes the chance for negative plays (sacks, interceptions, penalties) and keeps the time of possession in your favor.

Basically, this is what the top ten teams did last season:

  • 60% (6 of 10) made the playoffs - New England, Washington, New York Jets and Oakland failed to qualify. But only Oakland had a record worse than 8-8.
  • 70% (7 of 10) ran the ball more than 30 times a game.
  • All rushed for a minimum of 124 yards a game. That basically equates to a four yard average.

Winning teams tend to run the ball more BECAUSE they are winning. They don't win because they run the ball more. Running the ball better helps you win, of course, but passing better (not necessarily more, but better) is the key to winning in the NFL.

Yeah....I don't get the perception that Romo isn't a pocket passer.

He is VERY good when given time. He can pick apart a defense.

His ESPN SportsCenter highlight plays occur when he's flushed out of the pocket.

Good and Bad highlights....

That's what people that don't follow our team see the most of.

It's not that he isn't good at it,it's that it's not what he does best..To win it all your QB has to do what he does best..MAKE SENSE?

Being a QB is what Romo does best.

Sitting in the pocket and picking apart a defense is what he does best, IMO.

We've had several posters make comments to that effect.

MAKE SENSE?

Romo can throw on the run or in the pocket, normally the only time he is running and looking to make a play is when the play breaks down. When the line protect he is very accurate from the pocket.

Brandon Jacobs, is that you?

Romo in 2008:
Inside the Pocket - 93.9 QB rating
Outside the Pocket - 75.9 QB rating

I'd be willing to say that his TD inside vs outside the pocket will heavily favor INSIDE the pocket.
