Passing is the best most effecient way to move the football under the current rules.
Defensive backs can no longer invade a receivers personal space, 5 yards down the field.
When attempting to tackle these receivers, they now must do it nicely.
And offensive lineman are now basically allowed to hold when pass blocking.
Maybe its just me, but I distincly remember a time when offensive holding was called more often on pass plays than run plays.
Don't have stats to back this up, but it now appears that holding is called more often on runnunig plays.
You still have to run the ball. Because the more times you
effectively run the ball in any given game, the harder you make it on the defense to defend the pass and more importantly rush the passer.
It also significantly increases the chances your QB will play 16 games.
