And said he was a product of "the system" and he just throws to his first read and doesn't check down. Is this true? Did Simms say anything like that about Romo?

Even if he did, I don't believe it. I think Romo is making the reads correctly and checking down when needed.

yeah ok, that's why everyone else praises him for going through his reads and throwing to the open man no matter who it is.

Romo reads the defense better than the majority of qbs in the league and way better than Philbert ever did. But I have no idea if he really said that, first I've heard.

The pass to Witten that lead to the game winning field goal wasn't Romo's first read.(Romo pc)

If he really said it, then it becomes easy to see why Parcells would get into Simms for all those years: He's an idiot.

But, yeah, I doubt he said that. Doesn't seem like Phil's style.

Can't believe Simms would say such a thing when it simply isn't true. From what I see and read/hear, he checks down quickly on his reads and will go to the most open player he finds which is why his WRs love him. He doesn't go to the main target of that particularly play but will move on to the more open player. I'm thinking this is another case of other teams' fans hearing what they want to hear. I do find on reading other teams' boards that Romo not getting a lot of credit. There seems be great deal of effort not to give him any credit. In fact one Giant poster to one of their boards came and said that they'd gave more credit to Romo and McNabb as well if both didn't play for an NFC East team. Finally one of the Giant posters went on to say that Giant fans should just get use to fact that Romo will be a good QB and Giants would have to deal with it for the next number of years.

If Romo is a product of the system, that's one heck of a system.

And I wonder why the system couldn't do more for Bledsoe, Testaverde, Quincy Carter, Hutchinson, Henson . . .

Maybe Simms is so used to seeing Bledose pat the ball on each progression down thru his reads..............that way everyone knows Bledsoe is "going" thru the reads.......:laugh2: .........whereas he doesnt see Romo pat the ball or shuffle his feet so he has no idea whether or not is he going thru the reads...

If Phil Simms has the audacity to think such of Romo what does that speak of his son who is a terrible quarterback, just ask UT (Texas) fans, they hate the guy. He cost them a chance at National Championship. Romo is not invincible and he got away with weak throw on the second to last scoring drive on Sunday but he's pretty good just the same.

Ask Phil what he thinks of Jeff Hostetler:D

I'd hope not because it took him 4-5 seconds to scramble outside the pocket.

Doesn't sound right. Every time I have heard Simms talk about Romo, he's gushing about how Bill has his new guy.

Before we rip Simms we need a source and confirmation. The Giants board is full of bitter souls who went to the stadium on Sunday with signs about TO doing drugs etc...They got beat and they got swarmed by D-Boys fans and that has them at an all time PO'd level.

Simms is a level headed guy and a damn good analyst, I'm gonna say NO WAY he said that. Now, IF he did, than he's acting the fool, why? b/c anyone who waches Romo sees he checks the D out for quite sometime , and also buys time as he looks the field over.

Aikman, Bradshaw, Marino, Young and Jaworski plus Theisman have all conceded that Romo has got what it takes to play so I really am not ruffled by one dissenting voice from a forgettable quarterback.

When I think of NFL greats Phil Simms is not one that comes to mind.

Maybe Romo should send one of those "wish you were here" cards to Manning once he gets to Hawaii next Feb.

Ditto. He took time away from Applehead. Simms was a second class quarterback at UT, but he was starting....

Go figure.
