Adam Schefter Reports..

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will return to Dallas this week before deciding his future.
Garrett will convene with owner Jerry Jones and his family to weigh his options. Schefter says Garrett will be deciding whether to become head coach of the Ravens, the Falcons, or the future head coach in Dallas, though probably not in 2008. Schefter adds that if Garrett turns down the Atlanta job, Colts assistant head coach Jim Caldwell will be in play there.

I think in the end, Garrett stays. I think he was just getting feelers. He also wants money and a change if and when Wade is done coaching. Playing hardball, if you will.

So, if he stays and Jerry says you are my next HC:mad: Why in the world would Phillips stay? If Jerry says 2008.
I would pack my bags.

JG is going NOWHERE... He will be the next Boyz HC in 2009 heading into the new stadium. He has everything in place and he knows it's worth the wait. He and Romo will dominate the league. JG is no fool!!

yeah I thought Caldwell was staying with the colts. I don't think he is leaving, otherwise he would have taken the jobs and I don't think the teams will wait.

i was happy with him but i noticed that as the yr went on he tried to get too fancy. which lead to bad football.

right now i dont care if he stays or goes. if he leaves jerry will just find someody else to come in.

Because Phillips knows this team looks very good for next year and he wants a shot at the Super bowl, IMO, I would stay if it meant a shot at 1 super bowl.

Garrett leaves Atlanta

Steve Wyche of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has it that Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has left the Falcons complex and will return to his Dallas area home tonight to ponder his options.

Garrett has been offered the head coaching job in Baltimore. Things aren't as clear in Atlanta, where former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan had a second interview on Monday with GM Thomas Dimitroff.

We went over the pros and cons of each job a little earlier and, it would seem, decision time is looming for Garrett. Those jobs won't sit on the table for very long.

These guys are encouraged to go on these interviews even if they have no intention of taking the jobs. For a guy like Garrett it is excellent experience for down the road. I think he stays and has a wink and a nod from Jerry that he will be the coach when the new stadium opens in 2009.

Just a guess.

You could be 100% right but I can't see how that could possibly be good for the Cowboys next year.

Might not be. It's just how I think it will play out.

Personally as much as I liked the job Wade did, if this is the route Jerry intends to go, then he should just make JG the HC right now and put all of this to rest.

Absolutely! Wade would have no control, it would turn into a joke.

Garrett headed back to Dallas
January 16, 2008 7:19 PM

Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is headed back to Dallas, where he is expected to meet with owner Jerry Jones tonight. Garrett left an offer on the table in Baltimore on Tuesday and spent Wednesday meeting with the Falcons.

From what I've been told, the Falcons job is his if he wants it. Jones has vowed to fight to keep Garrett, but it's unlikely he would pay him more than the $3 million per year that head coach Wade Phillips is currently making.

Several members of the Cowboys' coaching staff are convinced that Garrett will pass on both jobs and remain in Dallas, according to a source I spoke to about 15 minutes ago.

In other Cowboys coaching news, it appears that new Dolphins coach Tony Sparano will attempt to lure linebackers coach Paul Pasqualoni and secondary coach Todd Bowles to Miami. Both Pasqualoni's and Bowles' contracts are up. Sparano could also go after defensive line coach Kacy Rogers, whose contract has also expired.

According to a club source, Jones is in the third day of a 10-day window in which he has exclusive negotiating rights with the three coaches. And since some of you seem to have Cowboys coaching fatigue, I'll try to focus on the playoff games tomorrow.

Much more to come.

Jason Garrett, Paul Pasqualoni, Tony Sparano, Todd Bowles
