According to PFF, Kenneth Murray was one of the best defenders on the field vs Vikings

I see young guys who not being taught the fundamentals of defense. They are being told coverage and gap concepts...not technique on how to do the job ala Al Harris.

Technique, coaching, discipline...all matter at this level. More than almost any other sport.
Either not being taught or they lack something between the ears. Time for better coaching and players.

Top 5 Defensive @PFF Scores vs. Vikings (snap total in brackets)

Quinnen Williams- 80.7 (31)
Jadeveon Clowney- 80.2 (28)
Kenneth Murray- 76.0 (22)
DeMarvion Overshown- 69.3 (51)
Donovan Wilson- 69.0 (49)

Caelen Carson- 46.5 (17)
Malik Hooker- 46.8 (49)
Logan Wilson- 46.8 (29)
Marist Liufau- 48.2 (16)

That checks out correctly.

And Mingo was our best offensive player.

Top 5 Offensive @PFF Scores vs. Vikings (snap total in brackets)

Jonathan Mingo- 90.0 (7)
Tyler Smith- 83.4 (65)
CeeDee Lamb- 80.7 (60)
Cooper Beebe- 76.2 (70)
KaVontae Turpin- 76.2 (14)

Bottom 5 Offensive PFF scores

Malik Davis- 56.0 (37)

Now we can have our minds put at ease about not resigning Pickens....here we have our WR2

This is why, ALWAYS trust your eyeballs when evaluating a player in real
time. PFF is only as reliable as the humans grading and evaluating. Take it with a shaker of salt
well Ive seen evals from the eye test in here from posters. I think Ill go with PFF. Not all of them but eye test in here is based on how much they like said player and is skewed accordingly.

Lol people thinking the dudes in here are better than PFF is so humorous though.
And no I don't like the player, but 95% of the guys in here have no clue on player evaluation

I like Malik Davis as a runner but his pass blocking is a real liability.

I didn't think Bass played that poorly, but I guess 1 missed block out of 7 plays would tank his score badly. It's hard to believe Steele and Thomas were not in the bottom 5 but they are both good run blockers.

Funny how we see a bad football player and PFF is used as a source if the grade is bad, but once PFF gives that player some flowers, it is discredited.

This Minnesota game was a perfect example of how poorly the defense is being coached. And a perfect example of how much better they COULD HAVE looked if Jerry swallowed his pride/ego and hired Mike Vrabel when he was available. There's no way on God's green Earth our defense would be this awful under Vrabel. What a missed opportunity

Oh really. Ok . As for myself, I been watching this game for 50 plus years. I know when guys are missing tackles, loafing, and making business decisions. Also, how educated does the layman need to be to recognize a turnstile when they see one? It don't take a genius man. Many of us on this board are just as qualified to grade as those over at pff. I never will understand why folks think it's taboo to criticize, scrutinize others at pff. As if they are law of the land. Give me a break. I will say this, they did grade out guys on defense accurate except for Murray. That guy quit on his team or he's bad at his job.

It's one game and for the most part I didn't think Murray was as terrible as he usually is. But the thing about Murray is he will flash quickness and athleticism on 1 play then do something mind-bobbling on the next. At this point I think Murray just has a reputation and he gets more scrutiny than everyone else. It is earned but not always deserved.

The Vikings had only 77 yards rushing on the night so the run defense was not that bad. True, the Viking average only 102 yd/game normally but overall I though the run defense was pretty good.
It's because the issue is in his head. He has no vision and cannot read plays. Why he even wears a green dot is beyond me. That is all on Eberwuss.

That's fair. They accurately got most right on the defense but man, they whiffed on Murray. So I get it, they are good at what they do there, but a few act like they are infalable. Ridiculous.

You thought a Quarterback was a refund.

Man...this just all points back at the DC. He isn't putting these players in position for success.
It's almost like 95% of the defense just forgot how to play football. I don't see how that happens

That is number 1. But the rest is our players either aren't grasping assignments or they just suck at football.
