According to PFF, Kenneth Murray was one of the best defenders on the field vs Vikings

Oh really. Ok . As for myself, I been watching this game for 50 plus years. I know when guys are missing tackles, loafing, and making business decisions. Also, how educated does the layman need to be to recognize a turnstile when they see one? It don't take a genius man. Many of us on this board are just as qualified to grade as those over at pff. I never will understand why folks think it's taboo to criticize, scrutinize others at pff. As if they are law of the land. Give me a break. I will say this, they did grade out guys on defense accurate except for Murray. That guy quit on his team or he's bad at his job.
I don’t think it’s a knowledge thing (for some) as much as it is just a time factor. Many could do what PFF does if they had time to watch each snap multiple times. Their ability to watch such a high quantity of tape gives them credibility over most that are just watching the games. Pff isn’t perfect but the amount of data points are exponentially higher than what the average fan has.

PFF scores every play and there is very little weighting. So, Murray might make a horrible play that costs us a TD and the next series he makes a good tackle. In the PFF scoring system, those 2 plays would basically negate each other. This is why every PFF grade comes with a grain of salt. What it is really measuring is consistency. A perfect example is Diggs 11 INT year. All we remember are the INTs and that's what gets these guys paid. But, on the PFF scoring system, Diggs was trash bc he gave up a ton of plays trying to make those INTs.

You just have to understand the system and what its measuring.

This Minnesota game was a perfect example of how poorly the defense is being coached. And a perfect example of how much better they COULD HAVE looked if Jerry swallowed his pride/ego and hired Mike Vrabel when he was available. There's no way on God's green Earth our defense would be this awful under Vrabel. What a missed opportunity
you mean the defense that fumbled the bills game away??? that defense????

That's fair. I don't mean to come off as being dug in on my opinion but I guess I assume many have seen a lot of reps over the years and can easily recognize poor play when they see it. Maybe they can't. Don't need to be a Rhoades scholar to see when a guy is having a rough game. Murray hasn't been good all year with rare exception.

It needs to find a better scoring system to be more accurate. This one is flawed.

I questioned Murray's eyesight yesterday, questioned Liufau's eyesight yesterday.......now I'm questioning PFF's eyesight today.

In the words of the late Vince Lombardi......

There must be some kind of pyschological operation going on with Murray. We have the staff claiming he's better than what the eyeball test shows, and now PFF with a grade from the Berenstein Timeline. We need Fox Mulder on this one.

Yeah. They laid an egg. But with average talent, he's got that team as a #1 seed. Like him or not, Vrabel would have this Cowboy team at or near the top of the NFC THIS YEAR.

I mean most of us know that PFF has strange ways to evaluate players.

What is really concerning to me is that they dont even care that people finally found that their evaluations are bad.
They seem to not care about their reputation.

Looks like they fit right into Dallas' approach. I would not be surprised if Dallas is one of their biggest sponsors.

Talk about us over everything else. Reliable research looks different.
