Anyone that has read any of the million threads on Roy has seen apologist after apologist claim that Roy is so great because he's a game changer.
This is a ridiculous overstatement.

I say, show me.

Not his rookie season, not five years ago, not last year. When has Roy, the highest paid defensive player, made a game changing play (for the Cowboys, btw)? The nearest thing I can recall was a third down tackle in the Commanders game, which was a good play. See, I can actually be objective.

INTs? Garbage time. Sacks? None. Forced fumbles? None.
Was his defense of the Lions TE in the end zone a game changing play? Hell, since we're going by your subjective definition, I would guess the answer is no. But they were held to a FG on that drive, and we won by one point.

I'm sure your definition is that it has to be some kind of turnover in a close game, at a pivotal juncture at the end of said game.

Look, he's a starter (and 5 time pro-bowler) on a 12-2 team, which has a Top 10 rated defense, a Top 10 rated pass defense (when considering QB rating against), and the number 4 rushing defense. You'd think with all the consternation going on around here, his mere presence on the field means we are going to give up 40 points every game.

See, that's the point for me.

No, he shouldn't be drowned in a river, but he sure as heck shouldn't be held in such high regard for his "great play," when you have the likes of Ware, Romo, Witten, etc. on the team - REAL game changers.
You misconstrue defending a guy getting publicly ridiculed for every little thing he does for holding him in such high regard for his great play.

What we say about Roy takes nothing away from Ware, Romo, or Witten. No one's in here bashing those guys....

Yeah, cuz it's never been uttered before. You might want to rethink that.

I'll give you that he made the play. Game changing? As you've stated, it's pretty subjective. I'd just say it was the least to expect from the highest paid defensive player and Pro-Bowler.

And, let's just say he owes the ref's big time.

I'm sure your definition is that it has to be some kind of turnover in a close game, at a pivotal juncture at the end of said game.

And that's wrong to expect? Ware made a "game changing" play on third down in a suddenly close game against the Packers when he sacked Rodgers. We absolutely needed a play and Ware stood up. What's so hard to understand?

Look, he's a starter (and 5 time pro-bowler) on a 12-2 team, which has a Top 10 rated defense, a Top 10 rated pass defense (when considering QB rating against), and the number 4 rushing defense. True, he is a starter ('cept for this week. Oops), but then again, so is Spears. IMO, Roy is a overrated, overpaid, below average, part time SS.

No one's in here bashing those guys....

Perhaps it's because their play doesn't warrant said bashing?

So even when he makes a good play, it's not enough for you, and you have to discount it.... Oh he MUST have been helped out by the refs.

You said show me... and I did... and you are so invested in your hatred of Roy that you go making excuses, and saying it's to be expected... par for the course if you will.

Well which is it? If he is expected to make plays like that for you, then does it, why are you complaining? Oh that's right, you want MORE!!!

What game changing play did Ware make against the Eagles? I mean come on, he's a game changer, hold him to the same standard as you're holding Roy. You want one of these plays every game right?

True, he is a starter ('cept for this week. Oops), but then again, so is Spears. IMO, Roy is a overrated, overpaid, below average, part time SS.
:laugh2: @ comparing Roy with Spears. You're really reaching.

Perhaps it's because their play doesn't warrant said bashing?
Romo's play last week definitely deserved a good bashing. Much more so than Roy's play from last week. But who's the topic of half of the threads on the front page? All because he's suspended one game, even if he wasn't the biggest reason we lost.
