Actions not words

He's keeping fans hanging around eating uo his promises...no reason for him to habe a sense of urgency, as long as that keeps happening....I'm still here, I'm part ofnthe problem....at least I understand his angle and don't let it get to me, anymore....
At least you also admit you’re part of the problem lol. Kudos to you for that.

Having hope is one thing.

The good thing about not being emotionally invested anymore at least for me is, if I want to have a family fun Sunday. I can. My life no longer revolves around this team.

After the GB game I told my wife. If they don’t care, why should we?

Too many times I’ve seen a team come out unprepared and unbothered by losing. So I just stopped caring.

Then you top that off with an owner who like the petulant child he is, purposely hamstrung his head coach as payback and wasted a year and you have a fan that is just apathetic.

Both of those are non proven.

This could just be more of Jerry's group of yes men finding these coaches for Jerry.

They have hired good coaches before.
This. I'm not convinced Jerry isn't meddling or - even more importantly - won't meddle in the future. In fact, when everything is going right...that's when he wants to stick his toupee in there and muck it all up.

That's a great attitude. It's a game, have fun with it....if it starts ruining your family time, change the channel or take it out on the Zoners that piss you off! Lol

George Pickens should already be signed
True, but it does take 2……unless you are giving his agent a blank check.

My opinion…you make him a good, fair offer you can live with. If he doesn’t accept it, you tag him. Then you continue to negotiate, but you also find out what his market is in a trade.

Good points. I’m not convinced keeping George Pickens is as important as finding a ton of defensive talent.

Put another way - having the most expensive QB and WR room does not make you a SB contender. It makes you the Cincinnati Bengals.

Every year I struggle to find something to like about this horrible underachieving team.

And every year Jerry continues to run his mouth and gaslight the fan base into thinking they have hope only to keep us a coach or a few players short of actually achieving anything.

George Pickens was enjoyable to watch this year he was a baller made clutch plays caught the ball in traffic did things we hadn't seen from a receiver in a while.

Jerry's getting ready to screw this up he'll franchise tag him piss him off and the guy will go into Head Case mode and it will be a complete waste instead of just signing him to a contract and getting it over with.
He has to tag him. No way a deal will get done so soon. Tagging him gives Dallas exclusive rights to significant compensation from competing offers. Pickens will be more boxed in with the tag than without it. Any team that offers more than the Cowboys could end up having to surrender TWO first round draft picks. Tagging is unfortunately part of the negotiations. This was probably always going to happen. It's not the same as the situation was with Micah Parsons.

And the Bengals recently WON a Superbowl. Don't let recency bias cloud your judgment. If Burrow could stay healthy for a full season they'd be right there at the end.

Not true. The 2021 bengals did make a SB but that was before they decided to make their QB/WR room their top cap priority.

Since making their star WRs the top of their cap they have not won a playoff game. Their last playoff win was the 2022 season.

The bengals have never won a SB.

After two straight years of not making the playoffs, and watching a terrible defense that borders on league worst, we head into a very important off-season if we want to return to at least playoff relevance.

This is the time of year when serious organizations with serious and well-thought out plans of actions begin to take action. Emphasis on action. Not press conferences.

And as usual, we are seeing guys named Jones talking a lot. Jerry says he wants to “break the budget” to turn this team around. He also said this week he wants George Pickens to be a Cowboy for the rest of his career. Hey, he’s basically once again crowing that he’s “all in”.

Yesterday on Dallas sports station The Ticket, I also hear that JJ is talking to George Pickens but NOT to his agent, David Mulugheta. Oh…I’ve heard this before. Then today we hear that “sources”inside the Cowboys organization (translation it’s SJ orJJ) say they will try to franchise tag Pickens.

Bottom line: They should shut up. Actions speak louder than a Jones. I won’t believe a syllable these guys say. I will believe action when it happens.

Some fans get excited when Jerry says stuff like “we’re gonna break the bank”. Feel free to believe that stuff if you choose. I’m waiting on the actions that back it up and the results on the scoreboard.
I was born and raised in the state of Missouri...

Right. I get it. They reached the Superbowl. They didn't win it. I would say it's been more the availability of Burrow than any cap priorities. These contracts can be restructured and extended. I don't believe it's the singular reason why they haven't won a Superbowl. Hell...at least they've BEEN to one. The Cowboys have fielded many teams that "should've" made it to a Superbowl...including the ones with Prescott and Elliott on rookie deals. It's too simplistic an assessment.

Both players were on rookie deals until 2024 (22 mil/yr for Higgins with the franchise tag) and 2025 (Chase extension for 28 mil/yr). So your argument is weak. Moreover, Burrow missed 7 games in 2023 and 8 games in 2025. Finally, the Bengals aren't spending appreciably more on its two wideouts than the Eagles are. Both spend about 58 million/yr for #1 and #2.

We can build defensive talent through both the draft and free agency. Just look at Seattle—they invested heavily in defense from the first through the fifth rounds and turned several of those picks into starters. With solid drafting, smart free-agent moves, and good coaching, there’s no reason we can’t do the same.

Moving on from Pickens doesn’t magically improve the defense. The real issue is that we’ve struggled to draft the proper players and coach them to what they need to do.

Last line says it all it's really great hearing demarcus Lawrence say he's tired playing for us in the playoffs.

Then hearing how when he goes to Seattle he has brought all this intensity and inspired their defense now he's a Super bowl winner and rubs it in our face.

The culture here needs to be fixed first players become lazy business decision makers here just happy to collect a paycheck

I don't bother entering threads about Jerry's/SJs quotes. Cause they've shown for years is that they are all talk.

The Cowboys have a leadership and cultural problem, and it starts up top.
Until we see action, then it doesn't mean much at all for what they say.

You’re right that Burrow missing time due to injuries has been a big reason Cincy has performed poorly. But it’s not the only reason. And yes, they have accomplished more than our Cowboys lately.

Their defense is the only one worse than ours. And one reason for that is their lack of cap space for defensive talent.

I’m not saying Cincy is always bad. Burrow is legit. And so are their WRs. But the problem is that’s where their talent cap space is mostly concentrated. They have a bad OL and their defensive cupboard is bare.

IMO - Having the best WR room is not a formula for SB wins.

......is it too early to start the obligatory and annual "Something feels different here this year"?

Or do we wait for the rookies to play preseason games and overestimate their talent?

Or do we wait for the Elams, Murray's, Wilson's and Sanborns of the league to be signed again?

Haha! Good stuff Shab.

The “something feels different” comments have already started. I cannot say anything is different until it is. And by different I mean at least making a conference championship game.

Until then it’s just “blah, blah, blah…”.
