Not a terrible try, but history and especially trends do not change until they do on the field.
This team has (had) opportunities to break the trends over the last 3 years and make a run
into the playoffs. The team could not get it done for whatever reason. You can blame Romo,
defense, coaches, management, waterboys, The Death Star...whatever. Bottom line,
whatever the reason...they couldn't get over the hump. Good teams find a way to win
meaningful games and get over the hump. When Green Bay and Baltimore won SB's
they had their problems but found a way to overcome. Until the Boys get that winning
mojo back they had all those years ago, it's going to be more of the same. It's a team sport
and the team has to find a way to win in critical moments...You can always find someone or
something to blame for failure until you don't fail anymore...IMVHO!!!

I didn't call last years team "a good team" who did?
we haven't had an offensive line for several years and last year we didn't have a defensive line
crazy

In my opinion, Dallas should win 8 games.
If they don't win 8 games, I will feel they under-performed.
Anything over 8 wins means they beat some teams I didn't expect to beat, over-performing.

Can Dallas get on a roll, stay healthy, have some defensive pieces come together and win 9-10 games? yes...maybe even more.
Can Dallas win the NFC East? yes
Can they make some noise in the playoffs? yes

Of course, they can do any of those things...it has happened before, and it is possible.
However, 8-8 or better would be a good season in my mind, and I definitely think the Cowboys are on the right track and are building a better team. Whether we catch some breaks this season or it takes another year or two, we shall see. All things considered (defense, injuries, schedule), 8-8 would be a successful season for me at this time with this team.

Like I said...you can find an excuse every year if you want to...One year offensive line, next year defense,
next year Romo burp... There's always an excuse for failure if you want to find one. The Seahawks don't
have a great offensive line but they find something to win with. We can't find something to win with...
This is a bottom line...show me business and teams that consistently make the playoffs find a way or
something to do it with. Cowboys haven't for a long...long time..."Bottom Line".

"D" that is so inaccurate its not seeing the truth. Now if you can't acknowledge the burden of injuries, thats on you.
Seattle's Oline was good and our Oline came together.
If you can't accept that 20 street FA's came through our door's last year was no excuse
that's just posing and not realistic. We're were the top 2 or 3 teams experiencing players losing games.

You are mistaken...I see the truth...
Every team in the NFL has injuries...Lots of them.
New England, 49'ers, Arizona, Cincy, Packers, Colts, Baltimore all
had injuries... You would be better off asking the question why we
don't have decent backups and why our players can't beat the
hamstring bug? Other teams find a way. Maybe we just shouldn't
overpay for over the hill players all the time, then we could pay decent
backups...New Orleans had their problems last year but found a way
to play defense with a new coach that couldn't find a way to win in Dallas...
Does that tell you anything? Winners laugh and tell jokes while losers
always yelp and say deal...Just a way of life...sad to say.

False. We weren't even in the top 5 for games lost by starters due to injury

I look at every match up as a winnable and losable, I think there will be games we lose that we should have won and some wins we should have lost and while I do not go through the schedule marking wins and losses before games are played I think this team is capable of winning the NFC East with 9-7 or 10-6. I don't base if on opponents I base it on what I think the team is capable of doing.

It's the NFL. A team can go from 3-13 to 13-3 in 1 year. This year is an important one. All the ground work being put in for the last 3 years should start to pay dividends. I'm expecting a better year than the previous few years and a deep playoff run. There's weaknesses on the team for sure but all teams have weaknesses. Some like to focus on the negative, burmafrd is an example and others like to focus on the positive. I think the latter is the right attitude. Being negative all the time turns you into a negative person.

I see I over stated our injury position

That is somewhat misleading. First, it came from perpetual hater Gosselin. LOL
Second, what is he determining as "starters". the players expected to start at the beginnig of the year?
The DL alone, lost all it's starters at some point, Ware & Hatcher not only missed a few games, they also played ineffectively injured most the year for Ware.
Then the starters brought in to replace anyone, got injured, then that person got injured. So is he counting those replacement of replacement starters as lost games too?
What about Ratliff?

Regardless, of that, overall nice chart to post though, it does put some things into perspective as to other teams injury status too. So it comes down to depth, which we knew we lacked for years.
It just hit way too much last year repeatidly on defense, as it did year before including the OL.

This year, on paper, seems the depth issue is heading in the right direction. just need to stay healthy.

Actually, watching the last 18 years of Cowboys football is what has made me a negative person.

Well alright. Another 8-8 year with your aging franchise QB and nothing behind him on the depth chart to take over when need be.

Success.

Frankly, I can't see how anyone who has been paying attention for the last two decades can have any other attitude towards this franchise.

Because some will treat every new season as just that a new season. Heck i been watching this team since 1965 and yes have had a lot of disappointments over recent years but never give up hope or write a season off before it is even played. It is not in my nature to give up.

I like that he broke down the games with some look at the other teams strengths/weaknesses and off-season moves.
A little too much reliance on PFF numbers which can be anywhere from enlightening to just plain crazy.

Can't buy anyone sees us as an 11 win team.
Especially not if tallying up off-season losses as a deciding factor.
We lost Ware, Lee, Hatcher i,e, our best 3 defenders.

Many good points. I seriously doubt they counted Ratliff or our 2nd string who became starters.
