ADAM JONES HAS A BAD MEMORY, OR IS JUST STUPID
Posted by Mike Florio on July 27, 2008, 7:24 a.m.
A reader has pointed out to us an amazing claim for Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones. And, in our view, the situation is proof positive that the guy really isn’t all that bright.
Jones, according to the Ventura County Star, said on Saturday that he participated in three offensive plays during his career with the Titans — and scored three touchdowns.
He says that two plays were reverses that he ran to paydirt. The third was a touchdown pass to the player formerly known as Pacman.
It sounds great. It would sound even greater if it were, you know, true.
According to NFL.com, Jones has two career rushing attempts for eight total yards and no touchdowns. He also has two career receptions for 31 total yards. And no touchdowns.
In fairness to Jones, he has four career punt return touchdowns and one interception that he took to the house. But he has generated not a single touchdown on offense.
We suppose there’s a chance that the reporter got it wrong. For now, though, the import of the story is that Pacman doesn’t understand the concept of statistics, or the ability of people to check them.
