Again, you're cherry picking seasons, and not looking at the entire picture and that's not something I'm willing to accept.
Guess we define cherry picking differently

Not sure how taking the 4 most recent seasons in a row before the collarbone break is in any remote way cherry picking. It's not like I said, uh, 2006, then 2008, then 2013....I picked 4 in a row, one after the other and also most recent before the break.

But like I said, I understand why people (me too) have concerns about his health. He has back issues that he has to look out for and the guy is getting ready to turn 36 this month.

Read that as well but I find it interesting that the Browns are ready to move if the one they like isn't there. If Wentz goes No. 1 then why would a team like the Browns who actually have a "NEED" at QB pass on Goff? And vice versa...if Goff goes No. 1 and the Browns (as was the rumor) wanted him all along then why pass on Wentz?

I still think the Browns take a QB at No. 2 and don't move the pick.

I think the Browns' situation is like Tennessee's in some ways while different in one key component.

The Titans know they have a lot of needs, and the more picks they have, the better their chances to fill those many needs. Tennessee also has that franchise quarterback in place (or so they hope).

And while Cleveland doesn't have the quarterback, they arguably have even more team needs than Tennessee does. Arguably, the Browns have more overall needs than any other team in the league, so the new regime charged with restocking the team may be looking for all of the draft ammo they can get.

My own theory is that one of the draft storylines will be about 'when the Browns will draft?' As I think that they will look to trade down as often as they possibly can in a concerted effort to gain as much draft capital as possible.

You answered your know question when you said "before the collarbone break". Not including his most recent season in any conversation is the definition of "cherry picking". As is not going back to past seasons because you know he was injured then too.

But like I said, I understand why people (me too) have concerns about his health. He has back issues that he has to look out for and the guy is getting ready to turn 36 this month.

On that we can agree.

Ok....I see what you're saying.
I guess I see a broken collarbone as something that has nothing to do with the player--as in anyone (even a rookie) can break a bone. Unless he has menopausal osteoporosis or something.

I guess that's where we differ.

I see a player's total body of work as his 'body of work'. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It's all part of who the player was, who he is, and who he may be in the future.

That's cool

Obviously, I don't see all injuries as the same.

Agree to disagree on that little part. No worries

Plausible...

I just can't bring myself to believe this. If this was the Case then why in the world would The Rams move all the way to 1.

They knew Tennessee was never going to take a QB.
If the Browns were even remotely interested in trading out of that spot then they could have given the Rams what they wanted (the #1 QB in the draft) for a better deal.

Somebody explain this to me because I just don't see it. You would have to believe that they tried to call the Rams bluff on a trade with Tennessee and got burned.

Browns got burned, Rams get Goff and the QB Dallas coveted as Franchise. That's the real meat and potatoes. Everything else is window dressing.

Well if Rams traded with Cleveland and another team traded with Tennessee then Rams don't get their pick at QB

It's way too much risk. Miss on one draft pick and set your franchise back 5 years. They could have stayed put, or moved up a lot less and taken Lynch to develop for a year, filled their WR needs in the 2nd, and kept the first round and 3rd round picks for next season. They'd give up a chance to be potentially more competitive this year, but in a league built around not making mistakes, that's a lot less risk to take to get your guy.

The Rams want to make a big splash, and they don't seem too concerned about setting their franchise back, if they screw up this pick.

I agree that picks have value.

But so do 6'6 QB's with Rocket arms, mobility, and a high work ethic.

We're in this position because we lost our QB last year.

I could list off a million reasons why Wentz should be the pick.

Ramsey? Might make our defense a little better and might save us some cap space for 5 years but it won't have the impact a Carson Wentz would have.

Even in the short term I feel like Wentz could win because of his ability to extend plays and our run game + Dez.

Just curious, is it Wentz or bust with you? Would you be okay with Lynch?

I'm not a fan of any of these other QBs.. It's a bunch of solid imo.

Maybe Hackenberg, Lynch, and Cook have real upside but I'll pass on all of them.

Even Goff. Not a fan.

Id be happy with several other players but I'd pass on all these QBs except Wentz.

If only the Chargers could've tackled Le'Veon Bell on 4th down and then Dallas would've controlled the real start of the draft....

I'm thinking the Browns aren't in love with either of the top qbs, and like you said, they have other needs. Plus I'm wondering if Hue Jackson really thinks he can turn RGIII's career around, which might be another reason Cleveland doesn't wants to draft a qb with the 2nd pick.

I find Jackson to be very confident in his abilities. Maybe even too confident. While he has a good track record, I can't help but wonder if he's become arrogant, and thinks he can 'fix' anybody.

It's part of the reason why I'm expecting Hackenberg to be the guy the Browns ultimately draft, with Jackson feeling he can 'fix' the bad habits he acquired the past few years.

Ma, you guys are something else! LOL. Why didn't Denver plan ahead and trade the farm last year for a QB with Peyton on his last leg and a QB they didn't want to resign? How could they do that to an otherwise stellar TEAM?

Why aren't the Cheatriots clammoring for a QB? They should have drafted his successor last year!! Traded the farm to get the best QB in the draft and keep the dynasty alive for another 20 years! Who cares if it cost them every pick for 3 years to do it! He could have set behind Tom Brady and learned the trade!!

San Diego could have moved up to #1 overall to draft theit choice of QBs and had had him waiting in the wings! Rivers is no spring chicken!!

Drew Brees is watching father time nip at his heels in new Orleans! Why haven't they moved to number 1 to get his replacement! Brees could show him theropes and ride off in the sunset in a few years!!

I could go on and on about this with numerous other examples. Finding a franchise QB is so ******* rare that only about 9 teams in the league have them, and many of them are getting very long in the tooth! What makes you guys think these QBs are SURE THINGS? If there are only about 9 of them in the NFL over the past 10 years, what would make you mortgage the rest of your team on a whim? It doesn't make a lot of sense. Look at RGIII and what was given up for him!! The Commanders got a better player than him in the 3rd round or so.

That's how inexact this is. Dallas would be better off throwing two or three picks at QB rather than trading up in this draft. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to do it unless you are desperate, and HAVE TO, which is what the Rams were. We are not DESPERATE, at least not yet. Don't force picks. A lot can happen. We got Zack Martin two years ago and we didn't force the pick, and that turned out well.

Take BPA. If it is a QB, then fine. But really you are better off missing out on one entirely than tropping Any Dalton out there every week for the next 8 years and knowing that on his best day he will be a bit above average and won't suck.

According to your logic the fact that the Browns, who desperately need a QB don't want to take one proves that the QBs aren't worth the pick. If the inverse is true, then that must be true as well, right?

The bolded statement is true, if both players set the world on fire... It is true if Wentz is a top 10 QB. But we really don't know that. It is a variable .... an unknown fact. It is not a forgone conclusion.

It definitely says that the Browns value additional picks over one quarterback to be sure. I guess one could read that as a slight on the quarterbacks if they were so inclined, but to me it speaks more of the number of needs the Browns have.
