Adam Vinatieri

What a horrible GM blunder JJ had last spring. Instead of targeting Adam Vinatieri (a guy we all just saw Tony Dungy call "money") we got a kicker whose head isn't screwed on right. Gramatica may turn out to be a decent kicker for us in the future. But all along everyone in this forum thought Jones messed up last year and after todays game that fact was hammered home. In 2005 the player we really missed on was Rivera. Wahle was clearly the better player but I don't think we ever considered him. I hope the free agent GMing blunder pattern isn't repeated again this year.

signing Vinatieri wasn't even an option for us.

I agree with you. Jerry really screwed up bringing that boisterous alky kicker to the squad. At the time I don't believe Vinatieri was even an option. Indy had already nabbed him. That's not to say we weren't looking when Indy got him. However, Jerry redeemed himself with Automatica.

Whale was never an option he wanted to go to carolina.

As for Vandy is was a mistake, but it was Parcells mistake. He even mentioned he had to talk JJ into signing him

Becuase Indy gave him a take it or leave it deal. There was no guarantee he would have got that much from Jerry, so Adam signed withg Indy.

no guarantee that he'll be back. Jerry mentioned the other day that they'll keep their options open for a guy that can kickoff into the endzone.

It would be idiotic to not bring this guy back. How long have we been searching for an acceptable kicker? Idiotic I tell ya.

Vinatieri was scheduled to come to Dallas after he worked out for Indy but they didn't let him get out of town. So how did we miss out on signing him? We never had a chance to sign him.

But let's not let the facts get in the way.

Not to mention there was no way to tell that Vandy was going to have the yips, especially with him coasting in on his stats.

Strange- we did not lose one game this year because of the KICKER. We did lost two games due to screwups by EVERYONE BUT THE KICKER.

That plus the fact that Vinatieri would love nothing more than to stick it to the Patriots, just as TO wanted to stick it to the Eagles.

Spurned lovers always want a chance to get back at the spurner.

I don't think we had a realistic shot of getting Automatic Adam.

I'd gotten tired of writing this over and over again every time someone complains we didn't get Vinatieri

We should actually have a small "Fact Zone" that can contain some simple explanations that people consistently ignore.

Other candidates for that Zone

1. Our #1 Tight End spells his last name "Witten" not "Whitten"

2. Tony Gonzales was already gone by the time we picked in that draft. We didn't choose Lafleur over him.

3. Jimmy Johnson is not getting back into coaching.

4. Roy Williams is still one of the top Strong Safeties in the NFL.

5. T.O. has deep seated mental problems, but the "dropped pass stat" for this year was invented only becasue it could be placed at T.O.'s feet
