The Peterson situation looks to be coming to a head, with his court proceedings resolved, and the NFLPA sending correspondence for immediate reinstatement.

And now the Vikings will be forced to decide to welcome him back or cut him. And some opinions indicate that Minnesota should just cut him now and move on.

If that were to happen, the Cowboys are already being mentioned as a destination.

I'm interested in opinions on whether you would be for or against the Cowboys signing him if he were to be released and why you think that way?

The NFLPA can say whatever they want but that doesn't mean that Goodell is going to bow to their wishes. Until Peterson is eligible to play, we're stuck in the same situation that we have been for weeks. All this has nothing to do with the Viqueens.

The NFLPA isn't just talking, they're acting.

The agreement to place Peterson on the "Commissioner's Exempt" list contained the understanding that he would return after his legal issues were resolved, which they are.

And now the NFL is breaking that agreement and the NFLPA is about to take legal action.

as usual the NFLPA is tone deaf. Peterson has been lumped with the media and others as part of the domestic abuse "epidemic" in the NFL. Advertizers and the networks would NOT be happy if Peterson is allowed to return this season. So the NFL can say that they had to act to protect the business. NFLPA can Whine all it wants but those are the facts

The NFL can take him off the exempt list and now can formally suspend him as part of the personal conduct policy. Maybe a 2 game official suspension is what I am guessing.

I don't see why the Vikings would cut him at this point. They won't save any money since he is a vested veteran who played in the first game of the season therefor guaranteeing his salary for the season. I say they wait until the off season to make a move.

I wouldn't doubt it, but they're certainly not decided on what they want to do. They have a young team doing better than expected without Peterson and may not want to change that dynamic, to say nothing of possible public and sponsor backlash.

It was made clear to me that they don't know how to handle it, given how they bungled things the first time. And now they and the NFL look to be buying time for themselves.

I can see this going either way to be honest.

The Vikings want him back for the remainder of the season.

I'm hearing conflicting reports on that. Some players do, and possibly some coaches, but there are front office people who don't and there's word that is the reason why he hasn't been reinstated already.
