Restructure doesn't work for me. Pushing guaranteed $ further down the line for an aging RB is pretty much a terrible idea. Renegotiate is the word I would want to hear

I'd love Peterson. Prefer him to Murray. But I wouldn't trade a thing for him because he's untradeable now, and I don't believe he wants to go to those other teams if Dallas has an opening. He can just agree to not renegotiate.
If he were available, I'd offer him something between $7-8M, but would want to go no more than two years on it and then go pay-as-you-go. Not all that appealing.

For Murray, I'd maybe stretch to 4 years/ $5M per, with a big chunk of that guaranteed.

Otherwise, give me David Johnson or Jay Ajayi and let's roll with what we've got onboard.

I remain hopeful that Murray stays... was hoping to get him at 4 years/$6M per but its looking like that may be $7M/$8M per... gettin' awful pricey...

If we go with a rookie, I like the idea of drafting Jay Ajayi as well... that assures that we get a premium defensive player, maybe two, before
grabbing a big RB to carry the load.... Keeping Murray is my first choice though... I think AP (or AD) goes to Arizona.

Quite a big difference. New deal or no deal.

BRING. HIM. IN. He's a difference maker that would boost our passing game with the attention he's getting. There's no way you can put 9 men in the box with the passing game that we have. And if you don't put 9 men in the box there is absolutely no way you will be able to keep him under 150 yards per game, especially with the O-Line we have. Either way, get his behind in here. Stop pinching pennies, you don't just add a RB if you bring in Peterson. It's a whole new and different team with Peterson on your squad.

I think tomorrow meeting will say a lot. Everyone wants to say money talks but it seems loyalty is more important to him. Time will tell I guess

Yeah, I agree. I think today's meetng with Zimmer will be key. And I expect Peterson to pin them down on contract specifics. If you want me here, you're keeping me under my current deal. If you're unwilling to do that, I want out. No more "we want Adrian back" semantics while you're refusing to talk about honoring the contract terms. That's clearly just a bunch of lies to save face when the split inevitably happens.

LOL. Sure he'd restructure.

The deal we are talking about is a NEW one. Not the old one restructured.

Next one please.

He has over three years and $43M left on his deal. If we are talking about a standard restructure, I still say hell no. We are better off keeping Murray at $10M a year. He would still be far cheaper and 4 years younger. Peterson is a running back who turns 30 this month and has had a MAJOR injury in his career people. Just say NO!

An interesting bit of recent information:

Free agent Stevan Ridley could be possible Vikings running back target if Adrian Peterson doesn’t return

http://blogs.twincities.com/vikings...ng-back-target-adrian-peterson-doesnt-return/

"A possible name has emerged if the Vikings were to end up needing to replace Adrian Peterson: Stevan Ridley.

A source said Monday the Vikings have inquired about the New England Patriots free-agent running back.

Coach Mike Zimmer said last month the Vikings wouldn’t look to sign a running back in free agency. However, that was before Peterson’s level of discontent with returning to the team became known."

It also comes after the Vikings' coach and GM spent 4 hours talking to Peterson at his home. If that meeting had gone well, this interest doesn't happen. That's obviously not how things went.

So this information furthers my belief that Peterson won't be back in Minnesota for the 2015 season.

Adrian Peterson flew to New York to meet with Vikings owners

Posted by Darin Gantt on March 10, 2015, 1:50 PM EDT

It was one thing for Adrian Peterson to meet with his coach and the General Manager.

But things are getting serious now, as the Vikings running back has taken his case to the boss.

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, Peterson met with Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf in New York yesterday.

He had previously met with G.M. Rick Spielman and coach Mike Zimmer, and Spielman was apparently in yesterday’s meeting as well.

The contents of the discussion aren’t known, but the fact that Peterson has gone straight to the top is at least a signal that some degree of resolution is near in his case, whether he remains with the Vikings or not.

With LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch ringing the bell, Peterson would likely draw quite a market if he were released. The Vikings don’t seem inclined to do that, and trading him would seem to be their preference.

That can’t happen until 4:01 p.m. today, so the timing of the meeting doesn’t seem to be a coincidence.

Peterson’s road trip suggests he wants to hit the road:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-road-trip-suggests-he-wants-to-hit-the-road/

"This suggests that the trip wasn’t about the Wilfs convincing Peterson to stay, but about Peterson convincing the Wilfs to let him leave. If it were about trying to get Peterson to stay, the Wilfs would have taken their own plane to Houston, along with a new contract.

Peterson surely didn’t fly from Houston to New York to be wooed. More likely, Peterson flew to New York to ask the wizard for a new team. And now he’ll have to hope that the Wilfs, who hold his rights for the next three years, will decide after paying him for a full season and getting only one game of performance in 2014 to let him go for whatever they can get in trade.

The latest development, along with everything else that has happened since Wednesday, points to a conclusion: (1) that Peterson told Zimmer and Spielman last week that Peterson wants out; and (2) that the Wilfs have decided at a minimum to make Peterson come to them and ask nicely."
