Loved that film.
On another post somewhere, I believe that I commented that Reds beat Raiders for best picture. That was incorrect. I may have went a little nuts back then the moment Raiders lost. My bad. :(

Here were the nominees for Best Picture in 1981 (the winner :thumbdo: is marked with an *):

1981 (54th)
BEST PICTURE
Atlantic City -- Denis Heroux and John Kemeny, Producers
*Chariots of Fire -- David Puttnam, Producer
On Golden Pond -- Bruce Gilbert, Producer
Raiders of the Lost Ark -- Frank Marshall, Producer
Reds -- Warren Beatty, Producer

Hey, in actuality, The Empire Strikes Back is recognized by many fans of the saga as the best film (or at least the best of the original trilogy). I kinda hoped that it might have sneaked into the top 10 somewhere, but I really don't have many gripes about the list as a whole.

Wow, City Lights is moving up. I think it was in the 20s or 30s the first time they released a list. Sunrise, Gold Rush, and The General are other good silent movies.

I really liked the Lord of the Rings, but is Fellowship of the ring really better than other new arrivals Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan and the Titanic?

I think I'm the only person in the world who didn't like this movie.

I used to think people were crazy to think Godfather II might be the better than the original. But the more I watch it, the more I'm coming around.

I just like the second one better.

I like when they go back and have Robert Deniro playing the part. I like them switching between the two.

I'm sure you're not the only one, but for me, it's as perfect a movie as one can get.

Wow, I've seen 84 of those 100. Good list.
Gotcha beat! I've seen 89; and as you can see below, the vast majority of those films were made in the 1930's or earlier. Please don't ask me about E.T. Every time I've tried to sit down and watch it, I've gotten physically ill (no joke). :puke:
